We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Laboratory Technician in our METHOCELTM Quality Control lab in Plaquemine, LA. In this role you will be responsible for performing routine analyses, evaluating results, and calibrating and maintaining analytical systems to provide analytical data to produce and release products including Pharmaceutical Excipients and Industrial Specialty products.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Relevant laboratory experience. (Experience with biology, bioscience, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, or aseptic techniques is a plus.)
· Can demonstrate mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills plus ability to work and collaborate with a team.
· Basic computer skills. (Experience with computer-based systems such as LIMS, Electronic Logbook, etc. is a plus.) Strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work under minimal supervision.
· Ability to prioritize and troubleshoot issues under pressure.
· Strong initiative, ability to work independently and the ability to multi-task.
· Strong interpersonal skills, allowing them to work with a variety of roles within the manufacturing plant and analytical organization.
· Must be able to work and interact effectively as a member of a team.
· Must have the ability to learn and apply technical concepts related to laboratory instruments, sample analyses and data interpretation.
· Bachelor's degree in a technical or science field desired. 20 hours College Chemistry or relevant work experience is required.

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for sampling, processing, and testing materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications, including proper documentation of testing results. These methods include American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Department of Transportation (DOT), US Corp of Engineers, etc. Other responsibilities include:
Perform physical/index/chemical construction material laboratory testing, as assigned:
Concrete/Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) Testing (concrete cylinder/cmu/core prep and compressing, specialty concrete testing, etc.)
Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) testing (gradations, AC content, density, etc.)
Soils (roadway base, select fills, subgrade, etc.), testing (moisture/density, Atterberg Limits, gradations, specialty, strength, etc.)
Aggregate testing (gradation, specific gravity, unit weight, etc.)
Properly document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts.
Perform and keep documentation of routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
Maintain a neat/clean/safe laboratory and work space.
Maintain relevant certifications to also include regular review of pertinent testing methods.
Meet deadlines and priorities according to established procedures.
Demonstrate the safe usage, storage, and maintenance of all tools and equipment, including company vehicle.
Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
Understand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS Programs, setting a good example of our safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma, G.E.D., or possess at least one current relevant industry certification, such as ACI Field, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregates, TxDOT SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, 1A or 1B or other comparable industry certifications as required.
Possess a valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm's auto insurability requirements.
If no certifications are currently held, will be required to obtain at least one of the industry certifications as designated by supervisor with support of the firm, within six months of employment. SUMMARY
Performs routine laboratory analysis of pressurized petroleum crude oil and natural gas in a PVT (Pressure, Volume, Temperature) laboratory environment. Conducts all aspects of PVT lab work under close supervision, including sample QC, pressurized transfers, saturation pressure measurements, flash separations, data reporting, and others, and assists coworkers in the same.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all aspects of PVT studies such as recombination, PV relations, differential liberations, constant volume depletions, viscosity measurement, and others.
Uses basic hand tools properly and safely to make connections to valves and laboratory equipment and works safely and effectively with pressurized petroleum reservoir fluids.
Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment.
Understand and be able to complete laboratory raw data sheets, perform basic data calculations using calculators and computers, and make accurate entries into the laboratory information management system.
Read and understand all analysis and safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
Assist senior laboratory personnel in setting up, adjusting and operating laboratory equipment for which the technician has been adequately trained and has been verified to operate correctly in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice. Performs equipment maintenance without assistance, performs equipment calibration and repair.
Assist in or perform basic analytical tests from well-defined standards and procedures as assigned by the Laboratory Manager. Laboratory technicians must be verified to be able to perform all tests in accordance with applicable standards and sound laboratory practice.
Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Core Laboratories Procedural and Safety and Environmental Manuals, and company policies.
Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas analysis, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials disposal, and other safety and compliance training required by applicable regulations.

Assists with investigation, and preparation of responses to client inquiries and CARs.
Inputs and maintains technical information as needed to support the laboratory functions/operations.
Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Required)
0-2 years of experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories OR 3 years of relevant experience (i.e. Sample Prep) (Required)
Bachelor's Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline (Preferred)
1-2 years of years' relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (Preferred)
Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
