Role Summary
The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician has the primary responsibility for protecting the food by conducting food safety and quality sampling, testing, and documentation to meet all regulatory, customer, and food requirements. The QA Technician is responsible for conducting food safety and quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with best practices for food safety and quality. The QA Technician reports to the QA Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Ability to develop, write, and maintain plant SOP program.
Responsible for meeting all applicable food and supplement regulations (international, national, state, and local).
Responsible for sampling, testing, and documentation of the procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Works to maintain the safety, legality, and quality of each food and the processes used in their manufacture.
Responsible for meeting and exceeding customer requirements.
Works to reduce customer/consumer complaints for supplements manufactured on site.
Reports safety and quality issues to plant leadership.
Authorized to hold products based on food safety or quality non-conformance.
Participates in daily food evaluation to identify possible defects.
Participates in physical inspections on a weekly basis in each area (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.).
Selects food items for analysis at specific stages in the production process for evaluating compliance to specification.
Able to use the following instrumentation/measuring devices: Thermometers, Metal detectors, X-ray devices, Calculators, Scales, Gauges, Calipers, Rulers, Moisture analyzers, Ovens.
Responsible for assuring materials are received from approved suppliers and conducts raw material supplier performance monitoring.
Participates in the Environmental Monitoring Programs (i.e., collecting swab samples, using the ATP system).
Able to print finished supplement case labels.
Ensures appropriate communication of food safety/QA issues with Production.
Other duties may be assigned, and QA Technician is expected to effectively manage and execute changes.
Qualifications
Effective work ethic and good communications skills.
Required: College coursework and experience in the food industry.
Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points).
Training in a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard such as BRC or SQF.
Good writing, mathematics, and critical thinking skills.
Experience in computers including spreadsheets.
Continuous improvement experience.
cGMP Process development and compliance enforcement.
Regularly required to climb, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
Use a computer keyboard and monitor more than 25% of total work time.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, and extreme heat/cold.
The noise level in the work environment is often moderate to loud.
Ability to work different shifts and weekends.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, physical stamina.

As an Associate Quality Lab Technician, you will be responsible for incoming material inspections and testing as well as materials produced in-house. This position will challenge you to work as a team to set, achieve, and maintain goals including daily inspection times. Responsibilities:
Provides day-to-day oversight of andrologists and all andrology lab procedures and practices.
Ensure and maintain regulatory compliance with appropriate agencies.
Maintain and monitor quality control measures & clinical data to ensure optimal laboratory performance and pregnancy outcomes.
Develop special expertise in the use of and continual improvement to the laboratory database.
Perform duties in accordance with laboratory policy including: the routine examination and analysis of semen samples after and during treatment cycles; preparation of semen specimens for treatment procedures; sperm cryopreservation procedures.
Data collection and submission for compliance reviews, re-certifications, and submissions of data to specified organizations.
Ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
Maintain sperm cryopreservation records and storage of cryopreserved sperm.
Develop new techniques and implementing new procedures into the laboratory as clinically necessary, ensuring that all laboratory staff are trained and competent in the new procedures.
Work such hours as may be required for the proper, effective, and timely performance of the andrology laboratory, including weekends, according to the operational needs of the department and in support of the smooth and efficient running of the service.
Maintain quality control and assurance of the laboratory for COLA and CLIA compliance reviews.
Be aware of clinical data outcomes and be able to discuss with the clinical care team and/or physicians.
Ensure that the physical and environmental conditions of the laboratory are appropriate for the testing performed and provide a safe environment in which employees are protected from physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
Coordinate Testicular Sperm Aspirations with outside physicians when required.
Develop and maintain all weekend call schedules for the andrology team.
Contribute to team effort by maintaining an excellent rapport and working relationship between lab team, other departments within practice and the Prelude network
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge and Skills:
High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree in medical or biological sciences strongly preferred.
Andrology Laboratory Scientist (ALS) certification required for Tennessee.
Meet state specific certifications/licensure requirements and Certified Lab Supervisor (CLS) is required.
MT is required.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in human IVF laboratory required.
Successfully completed a minimum of thirty supervised procedures for new skills (30 of each type of procedure).

Communicates proper knowledge of test results to physicians, nurses, and clients (i.e. Critical values).
Perform phlebotomies on patients to obtain proper samples for analysis.
Answer incoming calls from clients, physicians, and nursing staff.
Prioritize STAT, scheduled and outpatient orders.
Display courteous, professional manner towards patients, co-workers, nursing and medical staff.
Assist physician offices with all laboratory needs.
Maintain a clean working area.
Maintain patient/employee confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Complete assigned duties efficiently and in a timely manner.
Performs duties necessary to ensure quality in the department.
Seek guidance and direction when necessary.
Demonstrate the value of team concept on a consistent basis.
Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
All other duties as assigned.

In this role, you will:
Analyze returned products and prepare detailed quality reports
Inspect products to verify compliance with specifications, quality standards, and shipping requirements
Investigate and validate customer complaints and quality issues

We are looking for someone with:
High school diploma or GED (Associate's degree preferred)
18 months to 3 years of experience in a quality, inspection, or manufacturing-related role
Strong attention to detail and high visual awareness
Experience with measurement tools and calibration systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP experience (Navision) is an asset
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (a plus)
Strong time management, organization, and follow-through
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs, with standing and walking throughout the shift
Reliable attendance and a strong sense of accountability
