Responsible for unloading and receiving shipments, preparing outgoing shipments and coordination with Customer Service team to ensure that all shipping documents are completed accurately and timely.
AVAILABLE SHIFTS: MON - FRI 7am -3:30pm
PAY RATE: $20/hr
DUTIES
Assist with shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, and checking in merchandise
Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials, packing boxes; placing orders in the delivery area
Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to organizational standards
Transact customer orders using both carrier and ERP systems.
Providing quality control inspections, as necessary, within the workflow.
Package and tape international shipments in multi-pack cartons for export.
Affix shipping labels on packed cartons.
Take an accurate inventory count at the end of each day.
Package product for shipping, ensuring all necessary product cables and instructions are in the box.
Assemble cardboard cartons as needed for large, multipack shipments.
Move prepared shipments from the shipping cart to the dock door as needed.
Call and/or email forwarding companies to arrange pick-up.
Consign shipments to forwarders and ensure the correct shipments are consigned to the forwarder by listening carefully and checking documents.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in packaging and shipping.
Excellent written, verbal, and problem-solving skills
Computer Skills: Excel, Word, Outlook, and a demonstrated ability to learn new software/applications
General knowledge of domestic and international shipping (UPS World Ship and FedEx Ship Manager systems preferred)
Knowledge of ERP systems preferred
Forklift Certification is required either upon hire or the ability to obtain certification within the first three months of employment

Perform Risk Management by Walking Around (RMBWA), documenting and escalating hazards as required.

Marks all project shelves with job number, job name and PM assigned to the project. The area where material is placed needs to be clearly marked so that it is not accidentally removed for another project.
Any material that is transferred to or from any stock location must be properly documented within the accounting system, and/or a packing list prepared for shipment to the customer.

7. Coordinate the use of grinders and regrind. Clean grinders as required.

9. Clean dryers and all loading equipment, providing a contamination free environment.
10. Report all defective equipment to maintenance and/or misuse of equipment to Lead or supervisor immediately.
11. Fill out dryer and grinder material identifying sheets, return material tags, filter chart log, defect material reports and other paperwork completely and accurately.
12. Communicate to oncoming and outgoing material handler all necessary information.
13. Communicate with leads, supervisor/manager and other technicians on the coordination of priorities.
14. Use appropriate machinery and become certified, as required.
15. Assists in training Train new Material Handlers, as assigned.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation's discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.
We are looking for a seasonal Empty Can De-Palletizer Operator to be responsible for ensuring a steady flow of empty cans to the production lines to the Solbern fillers at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, typically August - November.

Key Responsibilities:
Uses proper tools to remove shrink wrap from pallets of empty cans.
Removes fiber or wood tops from pallets; able to stack tops.
Uses push buttons or levers to move pallets.
Collects tags from each pallet and turns them into quality control at the end of the shift.
Communicates with empty can forklift driver and/or floor leads if there are issues to be addressed.
Requirements:
Able to communicate with others verbally and remain calm under stress and strain.
Complies with all Food Safety Initiatives and performs all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations.
Able to make critical decisions while following company procedures.
Able to utilize available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically August to early November.
Compensation:
The hourly union wage is $20.06, with a 2
nd
shift differential of $.50, and a 3
rd
shift differential of $1.00.

Purpose of Position
Our package handlers are our front-line employees and a very important part of GLS. They work diligently to sort and make sure packages are in the correct route, to ensure proper delivery timelines. They work closely as a team to make sure all the behind the scenes work is done safely and successfully, no day is the same. We are looking to expand our team with people that care about safety, quality and work at a fast pace.
Essential Job Functions
Scan and/or sort packages, load and unload trucks. Operate equipment such as forklift and pallet jacks. Comply with all warehouse safety rules and guidelines. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
Characteristics are relatively stable and frequently wet and/or humid. Maybe exposed to fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat and vibrations. The noise level is usually loud and the exposure risk to hazardous environmental conditions are moderate. Listed below are applicable special environmental conditions.
* Standing for prolonged periods of time is required.
* Regularly works in outside weather conditions.
