⭐ POSITION DETAILS
The Substitute Teacher plays an essential role in the classroom by providing educational, social, and emotional development for all students by following the program standards of Educare of Omaha, Early Head Start, Sixpence, Nebraska Department of Education, and NAEYC. The Substitute Teacher enhances student learning during the period of absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining the program's educational requirement as well as meeting the children's individual needs.

Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management.

Ensure a sustainable relationship with parents, pupils, school personnel, and members of the public by communicating in a confidential, polite, and refined manner.
Ability to comply with written and oral instructions.
⭐ EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required .
Associate or Bachelor's degree in education (Early Childhood preferred) preferred.
An Active CDA, or willingness to obtain (if working 30 hours or more weekly)
Two years early childhood experience in a group setting preferred.
Must be able to pass a background check that meets compliance standards.

3. Insure that housekeeping standards are maintained according to expectations of the agency.

Frequently, these persons have behavior disorders, which may result in the display of aggressive outbursts of a physical nature. The person served may or may not be able to control these episodes. All employees must be willing to participate in working with training of behavioral problem clients. The behavioral problems may include both verbal and physically aggressive clients.
5. Provide a supportive and therapeutic atmosphere for all individuals receiving services and supports.

Therefore a security clearance level is assigned for each job description and those security levels are allowed access only to the information required to complete the duties in each position.
· Level One allows the least access and is intended for truck drivers, maintenance staff, redemption center workers, and volunteers.
· Level Two is for direct care workers including; floaters/substitutes, SCLS, Program Instructors, Day-Hab aids, Vocational Trainers, lead staff, and 1:1 staff.
· Level Three includes the office support staff.
· Level Four is for Team Leaders, supervisors, and Work Center Supervisors.
· Level Five is the security clearance given to Program Managers.
· Level Six allows access to all PHI and includes Directors/Administrators, Quality Assurance, and IT staff.
· Temporary clearance for PHI access can be given if staff require the access to complete extra assigned duties (i.e. filling in for another department). Maintenance personnel are given permanent access to areas where PHI is stored but they may need to enter in order to complete their duties.

1. Individuals "must not have or be a carrier" of a serious infectious or communicable disease, such as but not limited to, incurable, fatal, or debilitating diseases, which cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Instructs students during school.
Implements and modifies both group and individual lesson plans for instructional experiences for students in accordance with established curriculum.
Maintains accurate and complete records as required by laws, policies, and regulations.
Instructs students utilizing a variety of classroom methods, adapting methodology and instructional materials to meet student needs, abilities, and IEPs.
Works with classroom teacher assistants and supports staff to implement teacher's lesson plans.

Maintains positive professional communications with parents, guardians, administration, and colleagues regarding progress and concerns.

In applicable classrooms, assigns and grades class work and homework as needed and may administer and grade tests.
In applicable classrooms, complies with applicable policies and procedures for a youth physical intervention (personal restraint) in the event of emergency safety situations.
Demonstrates a commitment to the use of a behavioral approach to motivate student learning.
In applicable classrooms, assists children with self-help skills to include dressing, diapering, toileting, and eating.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of state policies, statutes, and procedures on education and regulations of Nebraska.
Ability to deliver instruction in an effective and efficient manner.
Ability to modify or adapt general education curriculum.
Ability to maintain a high level of professional competence via in-service education, self-selected professional education, and curriculum development.
Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the use of a behavioral approach to motivate student learning.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current Nebraska Teaching Certificate or Nebraska Substitute Teacher Certificate or a Local Substitute Teacher Certificate required.
PEM, CPR and nationally recognized personal restraint model must be obtained if subbing in the RTC or select settings required.
