History has been an active part of McMurry University’s academic program ever since the institution’s first classes began in 1923.
Offering bachelors' degrees in the fine arts, humanities, social and natural sciences, business, education, and nursing, McMurry College was renamed McMurry University in October 1989.
McMurry history students sign the sections they authored of the book Abilene Landmarks, A Photographic Tour , at the 2008 McMurry Homecoming.
