General Functions:
Processes and tests blood and other body fluid specimens for the clinical laboratory

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Medical Directors and management staff, provides state of the art laboratory specimen testing, including phlebotomy, from neonates to geriatric patients ensuring patient safety. MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree from an approved college or university and/or graduate of an accredited school of medical technology, or equivalent such as military training as defined by 42 CFR 493.1489. Personnel who, prior to 2/28/92 have qualified at the Medical Technologist level by achieving a satisfactory grade on a HHS examination. The above meets required criteria as defined by CLIA regulations for High Complexity testing (42 CFR 493.1489, Jan. 24, 2003).
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3 years as a medical technologist in acute care facility with demonstration of increasing responsibilities
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Registered with an approved certifying agency (ASCP, NCA, AMT or CSMLS within 12 months of hire). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Specimen processing, test performance, and reporting tests results
Ensure that laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results are followed. Demonstrate a complete understanding of established policies and procedures as outlined in the procedure manual.
Recognize any questionable patient results and repeat and or verify before being released. Notify the supervisor of any unresolved problems.
Correct all errors immediately upon discovery.
Ensure that STATS and critical values are called and turned out as soon as completed to the appropriate personnel and document and initial all action taken in the computer.
Notes concerning unsatisfactory specimens, specimens obtained incorrectly, abnormal appearance, or condition of specimen must be documented in the computer. Notify the proper personnel to obtain another specimen when needed.
Ensure patient testing has the highest priority over other section functions
All proficiency-testing samples must be handled in the same manner as patient testing.
Laboratory quality control policies must be followed. Investigate any unsatisfactory results and correct prior to releasing patient reports. Notify supervisor of any unsolved problems.
Laboratory policies and procedures must be followed whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
Perform preventive maintenance on all instruments according to established procedures, ensuring that all maintenance and repairs are documented.
Identify problems that may adversely affect the performance or reporting of test results.
Document all corrective action and notify supervisor.
Ensure that incomplete projects from the previous day are followed through and communicated to the testing personnel in the department that day.
Ensure the handling and loading of reagents and supplies is in accordance with established procedures for each test and instrument and that no supplies or reagents that are outdated are used unless manufactures statement is in place confirming acceptable performance.
Rotate supplies and reagents so that earlier expiration dates are used first. Notify supervisor if supplies or reagents are getting low.
Upon receipt of supplies/reagents date and store properly, record in supply book documenting date received, lot #, and expiration date where applicable.
Assist others when possible
Keep technical and job knowledge skills up to date.
Be familiar with all procedures in the safety manual and ensure that all procedures are followed according to lab policy.
Immediately report any recognizable safety problem to the lab supervisor or manager.
Promptly complete and submit an incident report form to the lab manager when any incident occurs involving an employee or patient.
Ensure work areas are kept clean and spills are contained and cleaned immediately.
Responsible for learning requirements for insurance contracts.
Collect specimens as needed.

o Attends labs on time and if unable to attend; ensures alternate method of delivery is available for students.

o Assists students and faculty in meeting course objectives through the utilization of the simulation and skills lab.
o Assists in the implementation of simulation standards and best practices and provides faculty with evidenced based guidelines to ensure positive and consistent learning experiences for students.
o Oversees the functioning and scheduling of all Nursing Skills Labs and the High-Fidelity Simulation Labs.
o Assists students upon faculty referral for skills lab remediation.
o Conducts high fidelity simulations including the debriefing process, formative evaluation of student activity during the scenarios, and the effectiveness of simulation activities. Provides feedback to students during simulation debriefing.
o Supports staff and faculty during the planning and running of simulation events preparing, applications, props placement, and moulage set up to create a realistic healthcare setting.
o Completes the physical set up and take down of a variety of healthcare simulation manikins and clinical lab environments with extreme attention to detail as assigned.
o Creates and maintains a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process.
o Continuously updates and refines simulation experiences based on identified needs and to serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/lab activities.

o Maintains office hours as required.
o Submits reports and performs required record-keeping functions in a timely and dependable manner.
o Participates in School of Nursing and Allied Health (SoNAH) monthly meetings and standing committees as assigned. May include serving as committee chair.

o Ensures inventory levels are maintained in a cost-effective way.
o Works with the Nursing Simulation Technician and equipment companies to monitor and perform routine minor maintenance and repair on all lab equipment to ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order.

Required Education: â–ª Master's degree in nursing
Required Experience: â–ª Nursing experience of two years in the concentration hired to teach (Medical-Surgical, Maternal Child, Pediatrics, Mental Health).
â–ª Two years of full-time teaching experience in a nursing program.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: â–ª Ability to use a computer for composing, storing, and retrieving information with Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Performs quality control studies to ensure accuracy of clinical data.

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for sampling, processing, and testing materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications, including proper documentation of testing results. These methods include American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Department of Transportation (DOT), US Corp of Engineers, etc. Other responsibilities include:
Perform physical/index/chemical construction material laboratory testing, as assigned:
Concrete/Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) Testing (concrete cylinder/cmu/core prep and compressing, specialty concrete testing, etc.)
Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) testing (gradations, AC content, density, etc.)
Soils (roadway base, select fills, subgrade, etc.), testing (moisture/density, Atterberg Limits, gradations, specialty, strength, etc.)
Aggregate testing (gradation, specific gravity, unit weight, etc.)
Properly document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts.
Perform and keep documentation of routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
Maintain a neat/clean/safe laboratory and work space.
Maintain relevant certifications to also include regular review of pertinent testing methods.
Meet deadlines and priorities according to established procedures.
Demonstrate the safe usage, storage, and maintenance of all tools and equipment, including company vehicle.
Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
Understand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS Programs, setting a good example of our safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma, G.E.D., or possess at least one current relevant industry certification, such as ACI Field, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregates, TxDOT SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, 1A or 1B or other comparable industry certifications as required.
Possess a valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm's auto insurability requirements
If no certifications are currently held, will be required to obtain at least one of the industry certifications as designated by supervisor with support of the firm, within six months of employment. Good oral and written communications skills, ability to read and understand procedures, specifications, instruction, labels, reports, etc. Must have some knowledge of basic math and science to analyze lab results.

This role reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and will be responsible for daily laboratory operations analyzing samples, running daily instrumentation standards and calibration of instrumentation, keeping detailed records of daily samples and reporting results in a timely manner following laboratory standard operating procedures. Other task includes typical laboratory housekeeping and management of chemical and gas inventory to ensure consumption demands are met. This role is required to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating schedule.
The role will be responsible for conducting the analysis of samples for a typical LNG plant, analysis of which shall include, but not necessarily be limited to:
* LNG composition (Before and after treatment)
* Refrigerant composition
* Water (produced, waste, cooling)
* Amine testing
* Environmental Waste Streams
* Cargo Certificates of Analysis
The incumbent shall also be familiar with sampling procedures and associated laboratory equipment to perform analysis of the above components.
Responsibilities:
* Test and analyze the above-mentioned sample types, record lab results and generate summary reports
* Run daily quality control checks on applicable instrumentation following GPA and ASTM standards
* Operate laboratory equipment to perform required analysis, troubleshoot equipment difficulties and initiate minor repairs
* Basic inventory management of laboratory supplies, parts and gasses
* Execute daily laboratory tasks and requests in a timely manner with high degree of accuracy and efficiency
* Collaborate with other laboratory technicians on activities
Qualifications:
* Education and Certifications: Degree in Science, Chemistry or equivalent preferred
* A minimum of one (1) year experience working in a hydrocarbon laboratory (May be substituted with education or relevant LNG experience)
* Oil and Gas experience is preferred, with preference in LNG applications, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
* Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment, including Gas Chromatograph, balances, spectrometers, etc.
* Analytical skills in quality testing using gas chromatography
* Proficient with MS Office Suite
* Experience working in a LIMS environment for data entry and reporting preferred, but not required

What we're looking for:
Lab Technicians are responsible for completing and recording a variety of Laboratory based analytical tests. They perform process tests, finished product testing, and specialized sample testing for applications such as water quality and contaminant identification. Strict testing procedures are required to assure repeatability and reproducibility of testing results. Correct recording and sharing of testing results is a critical aspect of the job.
What will be expected from you?
Comply with all applicable government regulations for safety and environmental issues.
Perform regular walk-arounds of assigned areas to ensure good housekeeping, safety equipment/procedure compliance, safety hazard recognition, etc. Maintains a sanitary contaminate free work area which includes cleaning work surfaces, washing, sterilizing and distributing clean glassware as needed.
Report safety & environmental issues so they may be addressed.
Support the Health and Safety Walk Around Committee and other Safety Processes.
Attend safety meetings and safety training sessions as required.
Monitor laboratory instrumentation and ensure performance is within desired ranges by performing calibrations, running SQC samples, etc. Lab techs must be proficient in using the laboratory instrumentation and some complex lab machinery and computer programs necessary to conduct required tests. Lab techs must check the instruments for calibration, recognize the beginning of malfunctions and be able to make adjustments as necessary.
Perform required sample analyses and record results as required. Perform special analyses as required by unit supervision and report results.
Review laboratory analyses for accuracy of data. Investigate discrepancies or inconsistent results. Notify operations personnel of suspected or know quality issues.
Ensure products to be loaded meet required shipping specifications and communicate results in a timely manner.

Lab Technicians are responsible for completing and recording a variety of Laboratory based analytical tests. They perform process tests, finished product testing, and specialized sample testing for applications such as water quality and contaminant identification. Strict testing procedures are required to assure repeatability and reproducibility of testing results. Correct recording and sharing of testing results is a critical aspect of the job.
**What will be expected from you?**
