Assistant to the Instructor of the laboratory courses possible for the physics major (Phys301, 306, 328, 329, 338, 339). The student TA will help students taking the course through their laboratory work, including problem solving, equipment demonstration, troubleshooting, and preparation.
Responsibilities:
The student TA will be expected to interact with students in a respectful manner, in keeping with the values of the Physics and Astronomy Community. They will attend a 30-min weekly pedagogy meeting, and attend a three-hour lab. We expect 3.5 hrs of work per week, for roughly 12 weeks.
Requirements:
Full-time student at Ursinus College
The student must have completed the course in question, the prerequisites therein, and have approval of the department AND instructor of the course.
Preferred Qualifications:
Some experience coding in IDL, GDL, Mathematica, Origin, Python, Excel and use and familiarity of the tools of laboratories: electronics, optics, lasers, materials physics. These courses each have distinct needs based upon the subject matter and the instructor. We expect these positions will be filled by the most experienced of the physics majors and minors.
