+ Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
+ Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant, or Laboratory Director.
+ Function as an educator and provide instruction and training in theory, technical skills, safety protocols and the application of laboratory test protocols to students, employees, residents, etc.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Biological, Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution OR meets the CLIA qualifications for high complexity testing personnel grandfathering clauses

Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technician I (MLT) is responsible for performing the routine test on blood, tissues, and other body specimens, as well as providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment. The Medical Laboratory Technician I (MLT) must have a total understanding of patient safety and laboratory techniques necessary to guarantee complete patient safety and anonymity.
Essential Functions:
Performs analytical tests on biological specimens, in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures
Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/ unusual results
Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results by taking the appropriate action according to protocols
Performs quality control for all testing and meets established ranges before patient results are released
Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, monitoring temperatures following hospital policies, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment

Education:
Must have one of the following:
Associates of Science in Medical Lab Technology
Completed 60 semester hours (including six hours of chemistry and six of biology) of academic credit from a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency and have completed a Medical Lab Technician Program
Completed a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the past ten years
Certifications:
MLT Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)

Butler County Community College (BC3) is currently accepting applications for the position of Perkins Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator. This is a temporary part-time grant-funded position that will continue as long as grant funds are available to support this position.
Reporting to the Grant Director for the Carl D. Perkins Grant, the Perkin's Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator is responsible for planning, operating, coordinating, and overseeing the nursing skills lab including the simulation center related to the Associate Degree Nursing Program and Practical Nursing Program. The coordinator will work collaboratively with the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, Nursing Program Director, Lead Instructor and Nursing Faculty to ensure safe and effective use of skills lab facilities. Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution in Nursing required. Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Nursing preferred. Three years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse required. Current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse is required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania required. Experience with advanced technology as well as clinical/technical competence including patient simulations, technologies and applications preferred. Instruction within a lab setting preferred.

The requirements for the Medical Lab Technician are as follows: Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program, ACT 169 clearance, and certification by A.S.C.P. within 6 months from date of hire OR possess a H.E.W. certification with 5 years of full-time clinical laboratory experience OR Already functioning as an MLT within SVH or TMC (Grandfathered) as off June 2002.
The requirements for the Medical Technologist is as follows: must be MT (ASCP) certified or hold a BS degree from an accredited and associated certification program and obtain A.S.C.P. certification within 6 months from date of hire OR Already functioning as an MT within HVS or HVB (Grandfathered) as of June 2002 OR Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) through HEW and has experience as a CLT for a minimum of 20 years.
Both the MLT or MT must obtain successful completion of Acts 73 and/or 169 clearances within 90 days of commencing employment, if applicable.

Reporting to the Grant Director for the Carl D. + Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
+ Assume responsibility for and take action regarding any quality control or quality assurance issues as it pertains to specific job duties.
+ Maintain instruments and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
+ Assume responsibility for good documentation practices and maintain clear and legible records.
+ Perform proficiency testing in compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations i.e. analyze proficiency survey sample in the same manner as a patient specimens, no communication with other CLIA laboratories, complete record retention and accurate documentation and result reporting.
+ Assume responsibility for participation in continuing education, professional development and required annual competency assessment.
+ Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
+ Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor, Clinical Consultant, or Laboratory Director.
+ May function as an educator and provides instruction and training in theory, technical skills, safety protocols, and the application of laboratory test protocols to students, employees, residents, etc.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
+ Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution

Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technician I (MLT) is responsible for performing the routine test on blood, tissues, and other body specimens, as well as providing physicians with quality results using a variety of clinical laboratory equipment. The Medical Laboratory Technician I (MLT) must have a total understanding of patient safety and laboratory techniques necessary to guarantee complete patient safety and anonymity.
Essential Functions:
Performs analytical tests on biological specimens, in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures
Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/ unusual results
Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results by taking the appropriate action according to protocols
Performs quality control for all testing and meets established ranges before patient results are released
Maintains a safe and efficient work environment by performing equipment checks, cleaning work area, monitoring temperatures following hospital policies, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment

Education:
Must have one of the following:
Associates of Science in Medical Lab Technology
Completed 60 semester hours (including six hours of chemistry and six of biology) of academic credit from a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency and have completed a Medical Lab Technician Program
Completed a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the past ten years
Certifications:
MLT Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or eligible by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP) (required)
Experience:
Two years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting (preferred)

PERKINS NURSING SKILLS LAB COORDINATOR
ANNOUNCEMENT
Butler County Community College (BC3) is currently accepting applications for the position of Perkins Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator. This is a temporary part-time grant-funded position that will continue as long as grant funds are available to support this position.
Reporting to the Grant Director for the Carl D. Perkins Grant, the Perkin's Nursing Skills Lab Coordinator is responsible for planning, operating, coordinating, and overseeing the nursing skills lab including the simulation center related to the Associate Degree Nursing Program and Practical Nursing Program. The coordinator will work collaboratively with the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, Nursing Program Director, Lead Instructor and Nursing Faculty to ensure safe and effective use of skills lab facilities. Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution in Nursing required. Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Nursing preferred. Three years or the equivalent of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse required. Current knowledge of nursing practice for the registered nurse is required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania required. Experience with advanced technology as well as clinical/technical competence including patient simulations, technologies and applications preferred. Instruction within a lab setting preferred.
