RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management: Lead and manage bridge inspection projects from planning to completion, ensuring all project goals and deadlines are met.
Team Leadership: Serve as Team Leader for bridge inspections, providing guidance and supervision to the inspection crew.
Field Inspections: Identify, document, and photograph bridge component defects in the field.
Technical Expertise: Be knowledgeable in NDE coding, SI&A coding, and repair item identification/priorities.
Site Management: Oversee general inspection crew, subcontractors and ensure site safety and management.
Report Generation: Generate bridge inspection reports using owner bridge management software, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or Microsoft Office.
Coordination and Scheduling: Assist with coordination, planning/scheduling, and mobilization for field personnel, equipment, lane closures, etc.
Client Interaction: Meet with clients to discuss priority items and ensure timely submission of reports, schedules, etc.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and assist with Project Management tasks.
Tool Utilization: Use necessary tools and equipment for bridge evaluations.
Mentorship: Mentor team members and support their professional development.
Proposal and Marketing Support: Assist with proposal production and marketing initiatives.
Continuous Learning: Maintain technical knowledge through training and seminars.
DESIGN AND LOAD RATING
Design and load rating abilities are preferred but not required. Potential design/load rating duties include:
Prepare studies, construction documents, maps, and reports for structural evaluation and design.
Perform or supervise load ratings of structures.
Prepare quantities, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
Use CAD and Microsoft Office programs for design documents and reports.
Communicate with Senior Engineers and Project Managers.
Review shop drawings for contract compliance.
Define scope of work and labor hour requirements.
Assist with proposal production and marketing initiatives.
Ensure project schedules and budgets are met.
Coordinate with design technicians for timely deliverables.
Prepare documents for regulatory permits.
Maintain technical knowledge through training and seminars.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering.
7+ years of experience as a Project Manager performing bridge inspections and related engineering functions.
NBIS Qualified bridge inspection team leader.
Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado - Preferred.
Fracture Critical and Tunnel Inspection Certification - Preferred.
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $160,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.

Claims Oversight & Management

* Provide oversight and support on Professional Liability claims managed by in-house counsel in collaboration with outside counsel where applicable (i.e., claims in litigation).

Enterprise & Project Risk Management
* Serve as a key contributor to the company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, identifying emerging risks and recommending strategies to manage or transfer them.
* Participate as a core member of the APD Risk Committee, advising on project, insurance, and contractual risk for alternative delivery pursuits.

What You Will Bring to Our Firm

HDR is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer EIT/Coordinator to work as an integral part of the industrial and commercial facilities team in our Denver, Colorado office. The primary role of the Electrical Engineer EIT/Coordinator is to perform electrical engineering and design assignments under the guidance and mentorship of senior staff electrical engineers. The EIT/Coordinator will be involved in performing detailed system calculations, drawing production, project specification editing, and will perform assignments using standard engineering techniques and procedures. The EIT may conduct field investigations and condition assessments, make construction observations, and assist in startup and commissioning of new and modified systems.
The EIT/Coordinator will participate in portions of the engineering work for a major project, or several smaller but complex projects within the specific discipline.
Project assignments are expected to be primarily in the Colorado/Rocky Mountain area, although assignment to projects located in other geographies is possible. Occasional short-term travel (typically 1-5 days) is necessary. Longer term (several weeks) assignments may be required infrequently on project assignments

Role accountabilities:
As a Task Manager or Staff Scientist/Engineer you will play a key role as part of a collaborative team, contributing to the planning, management, and execution of various project scopes. Your daily/weekly activities will be primarily office-based work, with the potential to conduct some site field visits involving both local and regional travel. Some overnight travel may be required based on the location and complexity of projects being supported.
Successful candidates for this position will have prior experience in task management and/or the execution of environmental investigations or remediation under the direction of a project manager. Key aspects of task management include overseeing scopes of work, schedules, and budgets, while ensuring strict adherence to health and safety requirements. Preferred qualifications may include experience conducting environmental fieldwork, working towards or having professional licenses (i.e. Professional Geologist, Professional Engineer) and knowledge of local and federal environmental regulations.

Technical Documentation: Writing and reviewing technical reports.

Financial: Producing cost estimates, forecasting project spend, reviewing client invoices, and tracking key performance indices under the supervision of the Project Manager.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or similar, or equivalent experience.
Any Data or AI/ML related certifications.
6-12+ years of data engineering experience with 2-5+ years in a lead role.
Strong programming in Python, SQL; deep expertise in Spark/Databricks.
Experience building ML-ready architectures, feature stores, and MLOps pipelines.
Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Proven ability to lead engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive architectural decisions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience implementing vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Milvus) and LLM-based pipelines including RAG.
Background in real-time analytics and low-latency ML inference.
Experience in highly regulated industries (healthcare, fintech, retail, AEC, manufacturing).
Ensure quality, compliance, and security across all data platforms while implementing observability, lineage, and governance frameworks.
Define and execute enterprise data strategies aligned with AI/ML initiatives while championing best practices in data engineering, MLOps, and cloud optimization.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $130,000 to $170,000. This compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.

DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a Civil Engineer I, Bridge Inspection Team Lead to join our bridge engineering team in Denver, CO. Our team works with local and regional clients on bridge inspection, load rating, and design projects. As a Civil Engineer in our Bridge Team, you will be able to contribute on conventional and complex bridge designs and plans, and you will analyze data on civil engineering projects such as bridges, retaining walls, and drainage structures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as Team Leader for bridge inspections, providing guidance and supervision to the inspection crew.
Field Inspections: Identify, document, and photograph bridge component defects in the field.
You will play a crucial role in overseeing mobilization, site safety, supervision, and the preparation of inspection reports.
Technical Expertise: Be knowledgeable in NDE coding, SI&A coding, and repair item identification/priorities.
Generate bridge inspection reports using owner bridge management software, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and/or Microsoft Office.
Prepare construction drawings needed for CDOT, MDT and Local Agency construction of bridges.
Assist with defining scope of work and staff hour requirements.
Assist project managers in meeting project/task schedules and budgets.
Assists project managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring that project/task schedules and budgets are met
Coordinates with technicians to ensure timely and accurate document or drawing preparation
Responsible for maintaining knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars, reviewing professional publications, attending in-house systems/management training
Travel will be required; local and nationally.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university required.
Master's Degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
Minimum 4 years of bridge design, analysis, inspection, load rating experience.
PE License required; Ability to Obtain CO PE within 6 months of hire
Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD design code preferred.
Experience with CSI Bridge or MIDAS (or equivalent structural analysis software), and Finite Element Modeling is a plus.
Desired computer skills include MicroStation, AutoCAD, Open Bridge Designer, Finite Element Software, Bridge Design Software, Microsoft Office.
Demonstrate initiative and attention to detail and accuracy.
