Our company's South San Francisco research laboratory is seeking an innovative drug hunter with in-vitro background in biology or chemical biology to join the cardiometabolic disease department as a 2026 Summer Intern, providing in-vitro support to obesity related pipeline programs. The individual will perform experiments in the laboratory with minimal guidance and supervision in the design, execution, and interpretation of complex in vitro/ex vivo studies to support target identification, validation, and therapeutic development. The successful candidate will also possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity to expand their technical expertise at the bench, as well as effective written and interpersonal communication skills to explain complex experiments and biological concepts to a broader scientific team.
Key Responsibilities may include:
Establish key assays and model systems, suitable for the mechanistic investigation of potential targets, as well as evaluation of therapeutic candidates, for metabolic diseases.
Perform molecular biology, cellular biology, cell-based assay, and ex vivo sample processing and analysis.
Design, perform, troubleshoot, document, analyze and interpret assigned research, with minimal supervision, to support exploratory activities as well as project focused goals.
Scour and critically evaluate current literature to identify opportunities for new and existing programs.
Work independently in executing tightly controlled experiments, analyzing data, and presenting to teams within the disease area.
Solve complex problems by undertaking innovative approaches and applying state-of-the art technologies.
Education:
Near completion of a Bachelor's Degree, or pursuing a Master's Degree, with 1 or more years of relevant industry or academic lab experience in chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, biology, or other relevant scientific discipline.
Required Experience and Skills:
Must have experience working with rodent or human pre-clinical tissues, primary cells, or cell lines in both routine and complex novel assay systems.
Must have availability for full-time work during June-August 2026 (10-12 weeks)
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Should have experience in the following areas: target identification & validation, quantitative assay development, adipose or muscle biology, immunology in the context of insulin resistance.
Should have experience working with GPCR targets and performing quantitative cAMP assays.
Should have experience with routine immunoassays (bead or plate based).
Should have experience with standard molecular biology techniques (western blotting, qPCR, etc).
Should be able to work independently and is able to simultaneously handle a diverse workload with strong organizational and time management skills.
Should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic team environment.
Should have scientific curiosity, analytical mindset with a drive to own a project to understand biology, mechanism of action and drive it through the discovery pipeline.

Our Company Discovery Oncology team is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled student majoring in the biological or pharmaceutical sciences for a co-op opportunity. The applicant should have a strong interest in cancer research and learning about oncology drug discovery. Successful candidates will be able to work independently and will be expected to proactively collaborate with colleagues.
The co-op will work with a scientific mentor to develop and carry out biochemical, and/or cell-based assays to characterize new therapeutics targets and potential therapeutic molecules. Techniques used will include isolation of immune cell subsets, primary and cancer cell line culture, proliferation assays, and flow cytometry. This project has the potential to identify new targets/pathways for oncology therapy.
Responsibilities of the oncology discovery co-op may include:
Design, execute, interpret, and report in vitro experiments.
Assist in developing, executing, and troubleshooting new cell assays.
Communicate data clearly and concisely to teams and stakeholders.
Monitor, review, and critically interpret published work to guide your own research.
Collaborate with members from other functional areas, including medicinal chemistry, in vivo and in vitro pharmacology, and genetics.
Required Education and Skills:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a minimum of a BS/BA degree in biological sciences or a related discipline.
Candidates must be available to work full-time for up to (6) consecutive months beginning in early to mid-2026.
Candidates must be enrolled in a co-op program through their college or university.
Candidates must have a strong desire to develop knowledge of oncology drug discovery.
Candidates must have experience with basic lab procedures: pipetting, solution preparation, plate assays.

The Program
At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. Scope of Position

Role Overview:
The interns will support the current and future fiscal year business efforts for the Clinical Site Startup & Engagement team in the following departments:

Interns will have the opportunity to partner with other business units (Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Legal, Field Medical, R&D Health Equity, etc.) that regularly collaborate in the support of business goals. Interns will develop their knowledge of the R&D process by shadowing CSSE colleagues. This will include attending trial team meetings and strategy sessions, as well as meeting with vendors and our CRO partners. Interns will be expected to present a conclusionary presentation highlighting their experience and sharing learnings.

Responsibilities
How do I make an impact on my team?
Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) and expanded clinical programs in accordance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Develop appropriate clinical algorithms, pathways and call scripts to support pharmacy staff in delivering MTM services.
Review and update all algorithms and call scripts with updated clinical guidelines.
Develop documentation standards for clinical outreach.
Collaborate with other CEC staff to develop and maintain a high quality and consistent MTM product.
Assist CEC leadership to develop programs to support STAR ratings outreach.
Provide clinical outreach to members, prescribers, and pharmacy providers in order to enhance care coordination.
Develop a full understanding of Navitus' Clients' member experience and how the engagement center contributes to improved health and wellness.
Adhere to compliance and HIPAA regulations.
Participate in, adhere to and support compliance and diversity, equity, and inclusion program objectives.

This internship opportunity is in the Tissue Material Sciences group which supports the preclinical development and differentiation of implantable biomaterials in support of Allergan Aesthetics' Medical Device franchises. Under supervision of a senior scientist in the group, the individual will primarily support the development of in vitro models (cell-based and/or tissue explant) for use in the evaluation of medical aesthetic products. The individual may also support the development and execution of in vivo models for evaluating biomaterial/tissue interactions.
Key responsibilities include:
Develops and/or applies biological and engineering principles to support the development of new preclinical assays for evaluating the performance of implantable medical devices.
Develops and performs experimental designs, protocols, and reports to demonstrate assay feasibility.
Develops algorithms for analysis of histology results (IHC and ISH) using visiopharm.
Supports the execution of in vitro and animal studies to advance the development of implantable medical devices, as needed.
This internship will be based in Irvine, CA.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in university, pursuing Master's Degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or other related field.
Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
Hands on experience with mammalian cell culture and in vitro assays (such as Western Blot, ELISA, or PCR).
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of computer programing, IHC image analysis, sc RNAseq data analysis.
Knowledge of skin biology and/or wound healing.
Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments, providing suggestions for additional experiments, including design and development of new assays, prototypes and methods under supervision.
Experience with mechanical testing and/or tissue biomechanics.
Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including statistical analysis.
Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction. Can work independently or part of a team.
Troubleshoot experiments, identify and solve elementary problems in experimental designs, including laboratory experimentation.
Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve standard laboratory techniques, experimentation efficiency, improve protocols, processes and equipment.
Support data generation for in vivo preclinical studies.

Under the direct management of the Wellness Clinical Manager, the Wellness Clinical Intern role is responsible for the assessment and therapeutic services of students and families engaging in our Wellness Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Complete assessments (including the development of goals and treatment plans) and community service referrals under the direct supervision of the Wellness Clinical Manager.
• Manage caseload by providing individual therapy, family support, and collateral/case management services in accordance with the client's authorization of services, under the direct supervision of the Wellness Clinical Manager.
• Provide client crisis response and interventions within the Wellness Center.
• Work collaboratively with the Wellness Advocate for referrals to appropriate community supports. This can include referrals to higher levels of care or community resources.
• Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary and inter-agency team, coordinating with educational providers, social service agencies, healthcare providers, other behavioral health providers, and any other needed services.
• Document services provided and contract measurement data in Summitview's Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
