Responsibilities • Design, deploy, support and maintain mixed vendor network infrastructure • Assist staff with problem solving and escalation procedures • Understand and follow operational policies/procedures and promote adherence to same • Provide technical knowledge needed to ensure safe, effective, and efficient changes to the network infrastructure • Assist with development of policies and procedures for maintaining network infrastructure • Collaborate and work closely with all other IT teams • Lead Incident investigations, diagnosis, and service restoration and always give priority to the resolution of incidents • Provide consultation (trouble-shooting, designing, on-boarding, risk mitigation, operational improvement) for areas of domain strength • Informal Trainer to Level II; ensures Level II skills are constantly growing through support and guidance. • Participation in 24/7 on-call rotation if needed Knowledge and Experience • Advanced knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Arista and other vendor equipment and configuration • Advanced knowledge and experience with Routing Protocols (BGP, RIP, OSPF, etc) • Strong experience in MPLS and Traffic Engineering • 10+ years' experience hands on support and troubleshooting of networks • 6+ years' experience with design and implementation on complex networks • Understanding of network management, security and monitoring • Excellent writing and documentation skills • Excellent customer service attitude • Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure Preferred • Experience working on financial and HFT networks • Strong experience in Multicast in switched and routed networks • Expert level network certifications: CCIE, JNCIE. To participate as a team member of the Information Systems department, participating in the day-to-day operations of the office. This individual will assist in the setup and troubleshooting of routers, switches, and all applicable networking equipment. In addition this individual will monitor and maintain all 802.11 wireless equipment as well as all subsidiary equipment. This team member will also perform all other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge & Skills Education: Associate Degree or 2 years of college coursework Experience: Five years of related experience. Requires broad knowledge of complex systems and procedures. Functions Area of Responsibilities Responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of installed routers and switches. Installs and configures new network routers, switches and access points. Performs all maintenance on router and switching equipment and performs troubleshooting steps for all system issues. Creates and maintains documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes and service records. Monitors and tests network performance, provides network performance statistics and reports and works with Network Engineer Architect on the implementation of advanced network technologies and design techniques into the production environment. Lead the design, scheduling, and configuration of all network equipment refresh projects, including responsibility for budgeting specific portions of the projects, with review of the Network Engineer Architect and Architecture Committee Configuration and maintenance of all DHCP scopes as well as design and create all IP schemes for the system. Responsible for planning, configuration, deployment, and support of the system wide LAN WAN infrastructure. Install, support, and maintain wireless networks throughout all Tanner facilities. Design wireless networks with supervision or review of the Network Engineer Architect or Manager. Review and analyze all wireless scans for proper coverage and issues. Install, maintain, and support UPS power systems in relation to direct connected networking equipment. Ensures that all systems are monitored and tested regularly according to a set maintenance schedule. Collaborates closely with the Architecture Committee to review, present, and obtain formal signoff on all proposed network designs, configurations, and infrastructure changes. Ensures all design proposals align with established enterprise standards, scalability goals, and long-term architectural strategy. Works in coordination with the Network and Security Architects during all design, implementation, and maintenance phases to ensure that network designs incorporate security best practices, comply with organizational policies, and align with the overall cybersecurity roadmap.
