Job Summary
* Splicing large & small count Fiber Cables Mid Sheath Cuts.
Minimum Required Qualifications
* Utilize proper techniques to splice fiber optic cable.
* Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables
* Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR.
* Strong communication skills are required between the splicer and tech ops manager to address problems as soon as possible.
* Proper record keeping and be able to review cable records as necessary.
* Knowledge, understanding, and practice of safety regulations within OSHA, NESC, NEC, and other construction-related guidelines.
* Maintain equipment and vehicle to a high standard.
* Work indoors and outdoors as needed.
* Iterate to the project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity, both verbal and written.
* Coordinate with tech ops managers to verify and perform work as directed.
* Night work as needed for things like node splits.
* Able to be on call for emergencies involving damaged cables.
* Must know ribbon fiber.
* Must know fiber to the home.
Tasks Required by a Fiber Splicer

* Prep/Splice single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) optical fiber cables
* Troubleshooting of fiber utilizing an OTDR.

* Proper record keeping and be able to review cable records as necessary.

Knowledge required by a Fiber Splicer
* Telecommunications- Knowledge of transmission and CATV telecommunications systems.
* Public Safety- Knowledge of keeping the work area safe for the public.
* Computers and Electronics- Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware/software for keeping proper records.
* Mechanical- Knowledge of optical splicing equipment like a cleaver, splicer, and bucket truck
Work Conditions - Field environment, working in inclement weather; Flexibility of schedule.

Salary Description
$24-30/hr
