This includes providing assistance to each client in working with a group and in handling individual problems; responsibility for setting limits for behavior; creating documentation of the client's progress; identifying the possible need for professional services and communicating such findings to professional staff. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for being aware of where all assigned residents are and what they are doing at all times. When assigned to a one-to-one with a client, the requirement is to have eyes on the client at all times during the assigned period. If observing a client leaving the premises, the expectation is to follow them until further assistance can be provided. Facilitate residential daily schedule including participating in, and providing support to residents, to include but not limited to, activities such as chores, deep clean of designated space, meal service, laundry service, groups, activities, and events. Provide transportation to residents for community outings and meetings in company vehicle in a safe and legal manner. Practice compliance with all policies, record keeping requirements, checklist assignments, assigned documentation, and any other assigned duties. Remain current and up to date on all trainings and certifications required to maintain employment with Lotus BH. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for providing safe, comprehensive, and compassionate care to ambulatory surgical patients in compliance with the facility's philosophy, standards of practice, and governing regulations. JOB TITLE: Surgical Tech PRN SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Physician and/or Registered Nurse Surgical technologists, also called scrubs and surgical or operating room technicians, assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. JOB SUMMARY The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing patient care based upon the nursing process; being effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for assigned patients throughout the perioperative process through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The Registered Nurse shall oversee and guide employees that are under his/her supervision and collaborate with surgical team to strategize, implement, and evaluate care plans for each patient. The Registered Nurse is under the direction of the Director of Nursing or the ASC Administrator. Perform initial pre-op assessment and formulates appropriate plan of care for a positive patient outcome. Provide competent care in circulating cases and efficiently providing equipment/supplies based on patients' need. Effectively maintains sterile field by practicing aseptic techniques. Accurately documents patient health records. Provides high quality care while using resources efficiently. Communicate appropriate data to the physician and other patient care team members. Interpret and implement physician's orders; perform treatments according to accepted standards and policies; evaluate and document effectiveness of treatments. Anticipate potential patient problems and take the necessary precautions to minimize those problems to ensure patient safety in OR and ASC Identify and report unsafe practice and/or procedures to promote compliance. Demonstrate knowledge and skill requirements regarding his/her role in the Safety Management Program (Safety/Security), Infection Control, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety, Medical Equipment and Utility Systems, and his/her expected level of participation. Submit documentation of annual updates. Interact professionally and courteously with physicians, patients, patient's families, visitors, members of the public and co-workers. Attend and participate in staff meetings, read and return all monthly staff meeting minutes in a timely manner. Encourage and promote cross training activities for professional growth and in order to contribute to the overall function of the Center. Ensure that supplies and equipment are available for patient care. Maintain and submit documentation of required current licensure and/or certification. Attend staff meetings, read and return all monthly meeting minutes. Attendance record not to fall below 8 out of the 12 annual staff meetings Responsible for knowing current policies and procedures, protocol and practices of the Center. Function within scope of practice based on licensure, education, skills and experience; Recognize limitations and asks for guidance when necessary. CNOR preferred but not required. JOB REQUIREMENTS Currently active State Registered Nursing License Current BLS and ACLS certification IV Sedation course completion and certification upon hire preferred. Exceptional knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques Proven experience as operating room nurse In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures. Solid understanding of patient safety and precautions (AORN Standards) Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in the Center. Effective communicator-- appreciates and respects others' needs, opinions, and concerns. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Assessing patients prior to surgery and alleviating their concerns. Gathering all supplies needed for surgery. Assuming responsibility of keeping the operating room a sterile environment. Knowledge of Instrumentation and equipment utilized for surgery. Efficiency and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of operation procedures and patient safety. Position and prepare patients on operating table. Pass medical instruments or other supplies to the surgeon during surgery if required. Monitor patient's during and immediate post operatively. Assume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned. Adhere to safety standards and precautions. Demonstrates current, comprehensive, professional knowledge and skills in conformance with recognized nursing standards and department policies including the Patient Bill of Rights and AAAHC regulations, Standards for Nursing Care and the Nurse Practice Act Knowledge of government regulations, HIPAA, documentation standards, and other compliance standards and ability to work in full compliance. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred. Ability to communicate in a professional manner-- able to counsel/teach customers, train co-workers, and positively contribute to marketing/public relations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, regulatory agencies, or members of the medical and business community. Proficient computer skills- ability to accurately update and manage and electronic healthcare record. Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor. HOURS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Our ASC is located in Orlando, FL. The job will be Monday thru Friday. Work hours may be subject to change, depending on surgery schedule. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs Patient Care Activities * Individualizes perioperative preparation and assists with positioning to meet the needs of the patient and surgeon. * Assists with proper positioning of patients by protecting nerve and bony provinces, maintains body alignment to ensure vascular flow and unencumbered respiratory ventilation and maintains patient's privacy. * Ensures physical preparation of the surgical suite, i.e. cleaning, stocking, and replacing supplies. * Opens sterile supplies onto sterile field using aseptic techniques. * Ensures the integrity of the sterile field and initiates corrective measures as appropriate. * Complies with Surgery Center protocol and manufacturers guidelines for use, processing and maintenance of supplies and equipment. * Checks equipment for safe working order and effective cleaning prior to use. * Removes defective instruments and equipment from service and documents specific nature of the problem. * Sets up sterile table with instruments, sutures, blades, electrosurgical equipment, suction, prosthesis and solutions needed for each procedure according to Center standards. * Scrubs, gowns and gloves according to established Center policy. * Counts sponges, needles and instruments with circulator according to Center policy. * Gowns and gloves O.R. team members and drapes field. * Identifies all specimens and follows special instructions of the surgeon. * Prepares surgical incision and applies post-op dressing per surgeon preference. * Assists with transport of patients. * Assists in keeping surgeon's preference cards current by reporting needed changes to circulating nurse and checks cards at case end to assure that updating is complete. * Prepares instruments for return to processing department for decontamination and sterilization. * Participates as operating room team member to complete room turnover. Performs O.R. Duties/Responsibilities * Applies basic knowledge of all solutions and medications for use during surgical procedure in accordance with O.R. Standards. * Maintains supply of sponges, fluids, sutures and other supplies for use during procedure. * Hands instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation. * Uses dexterity and economy of motion in passing surgical instruments. * Maintains a neat and orderly sterile field. * Discusses the sequence of specific surgical procedures with the operating room team using appropriate medical terminology. * Functions as a team member during stress and in crisis situations. * Utilizes cost containment principles for use of supplies. Requirements EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: * High School Diploma or GED. * Formal training as an O.R. Technician. Preferred * Certified as a surgical technologist * Current CPR certification. * Previous OR experience, one year.
