Job Summary
The Principal Solution Architect (PSA) is a field-based technical pre-sales role that focuses on developing comprehensive Hybrid Infrastructure solutions for CDW customers. This role involves providing consultative guidance, supporting partner product sales, scoping service offerings, and fostering strategic relationships to drive business growth. In this role you will be working with customers, delivery, and internal sales teams to develop and maintain strategic relationships and be a trusted advisor to grow our Hybrid Infrastructure services business.
What you will do
Develop appropriate assessment and service solutions for CDW customers, including architecture, optimizations, technology health checks, deployment services, and advisory services.
Collaborate with customers, delivery teams, and internal sales to offer consultative guidance, plan sales strategy, and author statements of work (SOWs).
Analyze technical and competitive considerations, defining actions to meet customer expectations in the sales cycle by uncovering customer long-term goals and requirements and crafting solutions that build towards the desired end goals.
Maintain strategic relationships with Customers, Internal Sales & Delivery management, acting as a trusted advisor to drive business growth.
Grow influence in your assigned territory by high levels of engagement with vendors/partners/customers/Sales as a strategic advisor and being seen by teammates as an expert in the field.
Act as a subject matter expert in multiple families of products and solutions, providing regular contributions to CDW marketing approved online activities, such as LinkedIn, blog posts, online magazine, etc.
Drive outreach initiatives, technical enablement projects, coaching, and mentoring for other SAs, Solution Executives, and Field Sellers.
Mentoring and coaching of solution architects around best practices to engage with coworkers and customers.
What we expect of you:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of (8) years in technical, pre-sales, or post-sale delivery role.
Experience designing and architecting Datacenter and Hybrid solutions tailored to CDW's client needs.
Familiarity with major vendors (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, NetApp) and platforms (VMware, Microsoft Server, Hyper-V/Azure Local, Nutanix, Veeam), as well as exposure to public cloud (Azure or AWS).
Motivated, self-starting, and able to independently perform high quality work with minimal guidance.
Understand industry-specific challenges, regulations, and best practices.
Tailored recommendations and position the company's solutions effectively within the industry landscape.
A PSA should be able to work effectively in a team, lead technical discussions, and influence decision-making.

They should possess excellent communication and presentation skills to engage with customers, gather requirements, and explain technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.

The candidate should have the ability to design and communicate comprehensive solutions that address customer requirements, business challenges, and build consensus around the final solution.
They should be skilled in analyzing complex problems, identifying appropriate solutions, and translating technical concepts into understandable terms for customers.
Strong problem-solving skills are crucial for identifying and resolving technical issues or gaps in proposed solutions.

Mainframe Specific Qualities:
Experience in planning, installing, upgrading, and maintaining z/OS via SMP/E and z/OSMF installation technologies.
Experience in installing upgrading and maintaining IBM and ISV z/OS resident products.
Experience in monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting a variety of different z/OS configurations and subsystems, including Parallel Sysplex, shared DASD, JES2/3, DFSMS and ISV equivalents, CICS, IMS, Db2
Experience with high availability, disaster recovery, and business resilience for zSystems, z/OS and subsystems.

Pay range: $148,000 - $200,000 depending on experience and skill set

Responsibilities and Duties (Included but not limited to):
Provide timelines and milestones required for implementation or upgrade of the IBM mainframe platform to meet government established project deadlines.
Use required software tools, including IBM System Modification Program/extended (SMP/e), IBM system utilities (including IEBGENER (generalized copy utility), IEBCOPY (utility to copy, compress, merge partitioned data sets), IDCAMS (access method services), to create, populate, update and configure required datasets and parameter libraries and members to successfully implement software installations and upgrades on the IBM mainframe platform.
Create and deliver detailed installation/upgrade documentation, using government specified software and processes and formats. This documentation will include detailed dataset names, configuration parameters, and installation/upgrade procedures used to install/upgrade the IBM mainframe OS, software or hardware.
Use IBM SMP/e to successfully receive and apply z/OS software and other related software on an IBM Mainframe. This includes interpreting SMP/e output messages to resolve software installation issues and requirements, use SMP/e panels to manage software installation packages, define SMP/e required parameters to successfully install and maintain OS and associated software products.
Create, define and manage system and user catalogs on the IBM Mainframe platform. This includes using the appropriate catalog management utilities to create, update, merge and debug system and user catalogs.
Diagnose and resolve IBM z/OS system abends and abnormal operating environment problems using system logs, and other available logs and documents. This includes creating and interpreting system traces and dumps, job output, and monitoring tools.
Create, populate, secure and troubleshoot IBM z/OS USS (UNIX Systems Services) file systems and mount points. Manage the USS environment on an IBM z/OS mainframe platform.
Create/update and debug z/OS parameters using government processes and procedures and requirements (aka PARMLIB).
Plan, create and update accurate, detailed documentation for IBM z/OS mainframe platform software/hardware installation/upgrades.

Fire Alarm System Programming Employees engage in the Remote Programming of Fire Alarm Systems.

Contacting to Local Offices to get the files needed to build a complete Simplex Fire Alarm System Program.

How you will do it:
Contacting to Local Offices to get the files needed to build a complete Simplex Fire Alarm System Program.
Work with the Design Team to get the .csv files and the latest submitted and approved drawings to build a complete Simplex Fire Alarm System Program.
Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to build a complete Fire Alarm System Program system based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification and architectural features.

We are looking for an experienced programmer, who can review programs written in COBOL/CICS/ DB2/JCL, design, document, develop and deploy code to production in a timely fashion.
Ability to analyze business needs and convert them into technical requirements, develop and deploy code, and collaborate with testing and business teams to test the new functionality.
They should be able to work with and communicate and collaborate with peers, management, business partners, staff, and other vendors.
Ability to exercise initiative, produce desired results and achieve objectives.

Able to multitask and support project work.
