The position will require thorough knowledge of the above stated standards and accepted practices as they apply to the work being conducted. The Engineer shall develop a good working relationship with Ohio EPA, and expect to be actively involved in the Ohio Water Environment Association and related professional organizations. There is an expectation that the individual will obtain an OEPA Class IV Wastewater Operator certificate when eligible.
The individual has the primary responsibility for directing and participating in planning, design and construction of all facility projects. These projects may include, but are not limited to, those dealing with wastewater treatment operation, maintenance and all supporting functions necessary for the proper operation of the facility. The position involves assisting the WRF Superintendent in developing and monitoring the department budget, rate studies, and may include handling confidential materials. The individual should expect to be involved in all aspects of work under the authority of the WRF Superintendent. Represents WRF before City Council, City Administration, employee organizations, professional organizations, the press, and civic groups. May be required to give public presentations to these various groups and others concerning departmental interests. Attend and participate in meetings concerning departmental issues.

The Facilities Engineer must maintain his/her Professional Engineer certification in good standing.
