Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position
In this position you will provide the leadership to plan / scope, coordinate and control complex projects involving multiple disciplines for Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing processes worldwide, improving our ability to understand and control these processes services and thereby meeting our manufacturing objectives. You will also solve state-of-the-art manufacturing problems requiring sophisticated engineering approaches, computational procedures, and broad engineering and scientific knowledge. You will act as the principal lead on one or more projects and provide technical leadership on facilities projects.
Day to Day Responsibilities
* Principal lead on one or more projects.
* Propose, plan (scope), and implement projects requiring engineering analysis and modeling.
* Define the scope, financial impact, key activities, and method of evaluation on projects.
* Monitors and controls the technical, cost, and time objectives of the projects.
* Re-allocates funds and personnel to meet project requirements.
* Initiate and implement major process improvement projects leading to improved understanding, significant cost reduction, or quality improvement.
* Develop staffing requirements for projects. Ensure coordination, interaction, and effect resource utilization of appropriate groups on projects.
* Direct the activities of other engineering personnel assigned to the projects.
* Provide technical leadership on one or more projects. Primary technical leadership on Facilities Process systems. Project management will be required on a wide variety of projects and not restricted to only Facilities Process-related systems.
* Act as a division consultant on problems involving delivery and integration of process services Worldwide for Optical Fiber and Cables locations.
* Maintain knowledge of current work being conducted both inside and outside of Corning in the areas of optical fiber and cables.
* Effectively communicate plans, progress, and problems to all concerned parties.
* Document results.
* Ensures coordination and interaction with other organizations that are involved in the projects.
* Trains other engineering personnel in project engineering, modeling, and engineering analysis
Education/Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 7+ years of experience or Bachelor's degree in any field and +20 years of engineering experience.
* Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments.
* Experience working with and managing system process and controls for facilities and environmental systems.
Travel Requirement
Your travel could be as much as 25-50% and could include international travel. Travel duration is based on project work.

The range for this position is $91,827.00 - $126,263.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.

Work as part of a team engineers to provide technical oversight for the design, installation, and acceptance of mechanical systems.
Responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES:
* Review HVAC designs focusing on constructability of systems, ability to successfully perform DALT and TAB and system performance. Verify TAB requirements are incorporated in the construction documents per UFC and UFGS requirements. For PVT, design review should focus on ensuring the controls system is complete, functional, and meets the applicable UFC and UFGS requirements.
* Witness mechanical system testing consisting of site inspection, testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) verification, duct air leakage tests(DALT) and performance verification testing (PVT) for facility HVAC and other mechanical systems prior to construction completion. This includes verifying design, installation, and system balancing, optimizing and verifying digital controls, verifying equipment start and operation for air handlers, chillers, pumps, boilers, terminal equipment, energy recovery, renewable energy, and distribution systems. Systems and components are thoroughly evaluated to ensure that they are installed in accordance with design intent and provide desired levels of performance and energy efficiency.

The Electrical Service Engineer will support and lead electrical maintenance efforts such as, installations, repairs, troubleshooting, and programming activities. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of heavy industrial electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution, motors, drives, furnaces, and process control equipment. The Electrical Engineer will act as a technical leader, mentor junior electricians, and ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations and industry standards. This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.
Responsibilities
Electrical Service Engineer Responsibilities:
• Electrical Maintenance & Reliability - Lead preventive and corrective maintenance on plant electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, power distribution, furnaces, rolling mills, and auxiliary equipment.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs - Diagnose and resolve complex electrical faults, minimizing downtime in a high-production environment.
• Equipment Installation - Oversee installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment, motors, drives, and controls.
• Safety & Compliance - Ensure strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and NFPA/NEC codes.
• Leadership & Mentoring - Supervise and mentor electricians and apprentices; provide technical training and guidance.
• Project Support - Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams on capital projects, upgrades, and system improvements.
• Documentation & Reporting - Maintain accurate logs of inspections, testing, and repair work for compliance and reliability tracking.
• Continuous Improvement - Recommend and implement reliability improvements to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment life.
Electrical Service Engineer Qualifications:
•7-10+ years of industrial electrical experience, preferably in primary metals manufacturing (steel, aluminum, or related heavy industry).
• In-depth knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including high-voltage distribution and heavy manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of and strong troubleshooting skills with Siemens PLCs, VFDs, and motor control systems.
• Experience with power systems supporting furnaces, casting, and rolling operations.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making under pressure in fast-paced operations.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills for cross-department collaboration.
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified electrical apprenticeship program.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license (required).
• Proven experience maintaining and troubleshooting large motors, drives, switchgear, and high-voltage systems.
• Familiarity with predictive and preventive maintenance practices.
• Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment (heat, dust, noise, heavy equipment).
• Valid driver's license; ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to call-outs as needed.
