Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals, but defines the process by which to meet goal outlined. Provides direction to technical and process teams according to established policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives. Gain operator facing technical understanding of equipment to aid in operational improvements for equipment interactions. - Identify non-value tasks to improve operational efficiency, eliminate bottlenecks, and maximize output. - Design or improve and implement physical tools to improve operational efficiency. - Champion PCPD within operations. Ensure systems within GM operations enable PCPD and achieve accountability of PCPD within the organization. - Engage with Lean Team as the GM Ops representative in LEAN activities (SMEDs, etc.) - Development of tools and data systems to improve efficiency within GM department. - Aid in completion of safety concerns and "I Have an Idea" projects within the department. - Engage with Fibermaking team to identify opportunities to improve efficiency between departments. This position is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of building heating/cooling generation and Central Utility Plant (CUP) infrastructure including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, vacuum, medical and mechanical air pumps, air driers and associated CUP equipment. Responsibilities: Maintains operation and readiness of boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, vacuum systems and associated equipment in the Central Utility Plant. Samples boiler water as required. Takes periodic readings on thermometers, pressure gauges and other equipment and records measurements on log sheets. Equipment operating out of established performance parameters is noted and adjusted as required. Issues are escalated in a timely manner to management. Tours of all assigned spaces are made to observe operating machinery. Adjustments are made, as necessary. Assists in the overhauls and repair of equipment as directed. On behalf of the Navy construction program office, manage the mechanical acceptance testing process for a $2.7B, five-plus year military construction program in eastern North Carolina. Work as part of a team engineers to provide technical oversight for the design, installation, and acceptance of mechanical systems. Responsibilities MAIN DUTIES: Review HVAC designs focusing on constructability of systems, ability to successfully perform DALT and TAB and system performance.
