Review drawings and specifications for opportunities to provide VE and pitfalls related to structural steel connection design. Furnish estimate of Connection Design cost as required. This can include approximate estimates based on tonnage or hard costs from sublet connection engineers. Furnish preliminary connection design as needed for projects to be Bid. Develop connection design "Samples" for use by our estimating department. Include Vertical bracing, moment conn's and various other designs. POST JOB AWARD Review all contract documents for connection cost savings opportunities and pitfalls. Determine complete scope of work for connection design. Determine EOR requirements for certification/sealing of calculations and shop drawings. Determine EOM insurance requirements. Evaluate structural connection design requirements for projects and oversee the development of the "Connection questions" RFI and "Project Connection Set-Up" documents. The "Project Connection Set-up" includes a summary of connection design standards and requirements for the benefit of the connection engineers, Detailers, etc. Develop, issue and manage connection related RFI's. Take a proactive role in getting answers to RFI's so we can start connection design and hence detailing.
