The Role:
The Production Operator reports to the Production Supervisor acts as the asset owner and ensures that all equipment is operated in accordance to SIG's ZERO EHS impact philosophy. You will support the site's production capabilities by ensuring operation and support of production equipment, and by initiating immediate notification of improper working production equipment.

Support and promote the initiatives of the Responsible Care Management System
Maintain workplace organization through the execution of 5S quality principles and related practices
Considered the "Asset Owner" and responsible for executing operator work processes and procedures in a way that maximizes yield and minimizes waste
Maintain up-to-date data on Short Interval Control (SIC) boards and detailed logbooks Participate with Production management, Maintenance and Engineering to identify, address and correct root causes of mechanical downtime
Partner with Production Coordinator and Engineering in completing process improvements and rate tests to identify optimum operating conditions
Complete in-process sampling and analytics for verification of in-process product quality
Ensure that Management of Change (MOC) procedures are followed in their assigned work area
Responsible for issuance of work permits in their assigned area
Ensure maintenance work orders are written and followed up for their assigned work area
Responsible for completion of startups/shutdowns/changeovers/maintenance preparation/LOTO and other tasks in a safe, thorough and efficient manner to minimize down time and to maximize production
Ensure adherence to ISO-9002 policies and procedures outlined by the approved ISO Standard and Programs
Participate in ISO program audits to improve execution and ensure compliance to SI and Regulatory standards

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**
+ Properly operate, inspect, and monitor in a safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound manner power plant equipment including:

**Working Conditions:**

+ Work in and around rotating equipment, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise areas and elevations up to 150 feet.
+ Work in all temperatures and climatic conditions. Some temperatures can be extreme.
+ Work in confined spaces, some requiring the use of respirator protective equipment.
+ Performance of duties requires response to calls 24 hours/day, seven days/week and working irregular shifts.
+ Emergency situations will require the use of a respirator and climbing stairs to reach safety shelters.
+ Facial hair in the sealing area of a respirator is not permitted.
+ Contact lenses are not permitted except for specific medical reasons.
+ Substantial footwear must be worn in accordance with the current Safety Shoe Policy.

**Physical Requirements:**
+ Power Plant Environment-Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with Heat Stress procedures. Work around large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places, on elevations in excess of 250 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater. Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial devices.
+ Must be prepared to work irregular or rotating shifts and respond to emergency callout 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
+ Ability to work in mentally stressful environments: must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations.
+ Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, shoveling, climbing, and working with hand tools (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs.
