BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION: Assist in the set-up, run, and monitor any one of the machines used for the production of filament winding vessels. Ensures quality product is being produced in a timely fashion. 1. Performs activities in the production of filament wound pressure vessels which may include assisting in the set-up winding, oven load, extraction, cutting, sanding, prep, milling, port install, troubleshoot, repair (as required), hydro-test, paint prep, paint and packaging. 2. Performs and ensures quality inspections of raw material and wound vessels. 3. Prepares and ensures production and department documents such as roll tickets, run log, maintenance log, utilization sheets, and sample work-up sheets are complete and accurate. 4. Follows Production Manager's instructions, housekeeping policies, and standard operating procedures, written, oral, or diagram form that aid in the manufacturing of filament wound pressure vessels. 5. Troubleshooting Identify and address minor equipment issues such as material jams, misfeeds, or sensor obstructions. Reset equipment following standard operating procedures when safe to do so. Adjust basic machine settings (e.g., speed, feed rate, alignment) to maintain quality and efficiency. Verify that safety guards, sensors, and interlocks are functioning before resuming operation. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and adjusting production equipment used in our salami manufacturing plant. This role ensures machines run safely, efficiently, and according to quality and food safety standards, supporting consistent production of finished products. Essential Functions and Responsibilities (not restrictive) Operate and monitor equipment such as slicers, packaging machines (including automation), and other production machinery. Set up machines at the start of shift, perform machine adjustments to maintain proper speeds, weights, cuts, and product specifications. Support changeovers, cleaning, and equipment teardown/assembly. Verify process parameters and document results according to HACCP, GMP, and USDA/FSIS requirements; conduct quality checks, including visual inspection, weight control, labeling, and package integrity. Identify and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues; escalate problems to Lead, Maintenance or Supervisor when needed. Maintain clean and sanitized work areas and equipment following sanitation and food safety practices. Enters job and production information into Epicor to track activities completed throughout the shift. Is able to record scrap and start up shots in addition to other job activities. Performs in process inspections every two hours on the parts and logging this information onto a sheet. Capable of starting the machine at the beginning of the shift for a job that was previously running. Follows all safety procedures including abiding by all safety latches, locks and gates on the machinery. Covers breaks and lunches at other die cast machines. Can run trim press and inspect parts at a variety of die cast machines and will be expected to move around and work different machines as business levels dictate.
