Responsibilities The Plant Operator will:
Operate mobile equipment to feed plant
Perform pre and post operation inspections of plant and mobile equipment
Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions
Replace drive belts, jaw dies, screen decks and maintain gear boxes and pulleys.
Ensure preventive maintenance and repairs are made on plant, secondary structures, related maintenance tools, and safety equipment.
Manage the startup and shut down process for the plant, conveyors, crushers, and related components
Maintain housekeeping of yard and plant
Inspect and monitor the plant and secondary structures to ensure safe and proper operation
Determine proper settings for crusher and feeder
Monitor the plant to ensure proper operations
Monitor air emissions and will take appropriate corrective action
Adjust the plant based on production and plant performance data
Ensures material production schedule is maintained
Determines timing and controls watering of stockpiles
Checks stockpile to ensure product quality and mixes material to desired consistency
Perform other projects as assigned by supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Make hourly rounds to check Lime, PAC, and Nalco injection equipment. In this process the DSI operator will be reading pressure gauges, checking for leaks and monitoring product levels.
Will escort semi-trucks who are delivering products onto the property ensuring that the products are correct and that the driver is wearing the appropriate PPE. Also must ensure that the products are unloaded into the correct unit and monitor the line pressure.
Purge the Lances on all the different units with compressed air. Should lances become clogged the DSI operator will clear the lines using several different methods.
Monitors the amount of product that is being injected and make changes at the request of client operations management.
Outage Tasks: Will perform a variety of Maintenance tasks. These will include but may not be limited to:
Disassembling (Breaking apart) pipes for moving lines in the operation.
Replacing valves
Cleaning parts that have lime buildup etc.
General Maintenance:
Light Maintenance not including cutting or welding.
May replace worn hoses, worn couplers, change filters etc.
May cut new replacement hoses to length and attach correct couplers for the connections. Other light maintenance items may be added.
Must be certified to do Lock-Out/Tag-Out and be Switchman trained so they are authorized to flip breakers up to 480 volts.
Reviews and communicates to-Supervisor/Foreman Report to ensure completion of unfinished tasks from previous shift. Identifies the areas needing priority completion.
Obtains vehicles, tools or machinery required to complete the job tasks and performs inspections to assure their safe and efficient operation.
Completes any daily paperwork that his/her position requires.
Participates in ISO practices and embraces ISO principals and philosophies in the performance of principal duties and responsibilities.
Makes Safety the first consideration above all other responsibilities. Follows all safety rules and uses sound judgment for the protection of him/herself, co-workers, client personnel, client invitees, general public and property. Participates in safety training and attends safety meetings as scheduled by Supervisor. Also, responsible to report to his/her supervisor any unsafe conditions or practices and STOP work until corrections are made.
