The Role
Operate computer numerical control machines to fabricate parts. Loads parts in machine, cycles machine, detects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools by performing the following duties.
What you will be responsible for:
Set up and operate numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various machine functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and work piece on machine using overhead crane.
Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine spindles as specified or inserts cutting tools in specified machine magazines.
Load control media such as tape, card, or disk, in machine controller or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from database.
Capable of proper set up, interpretation and verification of correctness of program to be used on machine.
Calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
Manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
Ability to start machine and monitor displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
Measure work piece for conformance to specifications.
Stop machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications.
Enter commands or manually adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
Operate machine manually to perform functions when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions as applicable.
Notify supervisor of discrepancies. Discuss control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
Maintains production record of parts and jobs fabricated as required by the Department Manager.
Clean machine, tooling, and parts.
Perform some machine maintenance.
Regular attendance, ability to arrive at work punctually, ability to work on-site, ability to work overtime.
Ability to work cooperatively with others, ability to deal respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.

FUNCTION
The Chemical Operator will support Standard Nuclear's chemical processing and materials production operations by operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment used in sol-gel processing and chemical dissolution systems. Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
The person in this position operates equipment as part of a crew to build, repair, or maintain railroad track
Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures
Perform equipment safety and maintenance checks
Perform laborer duties as needed
Practice safe working habits and ensure proper PPE is being used
Communicate with team and supervisor throughout the job process
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
At least two years of verifiable experience operating railroad maintenance-of-way equipment such as backhoe, loader, dump truck, spiker, tie crane, TRIPP machine
Extensive travel is required up to 3 weeks at a time is necessary
Experience working outdoors
Must pass background check and drug test
Specialized/Technical Knowledge/Education/Experience:
Prior railroad experience required
Prefer previous construction experience and/or mechanical aptitude
Safety conscious with high regard for other employees working with or near equipment
Must be a team player and willing to learn all phases of the position.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
Able to perform duties outside in multiple environments including but not limited to heat and humidity, rain, snow, and ice
Frequent walking on uneven surfaces
Standing for extended periods of time
Lift/carry or push/pull equipment and other objects weighing up to 75 pounds
Must be able to bend, stoop and kneel for extended periods of time

**Requirements:**

+ Experience with a 10-key calculator or number pad.
