Operators must understand the various cores used and the different specifications for all product rolls, while taking care to monitor for any defects, wrap rolls with high quality, and apply labels to the rolls with correct details. Shifts: 12-hour shifts on 2-2-3 schedule. Night Shift 7pm-7am or Day Shift 7am-7pm. Pay: Starting at $19+/HR. depending on position, education and experience; $2 night shift differential for each hour worked. Growth potential! Where: Clarksville, Tennessee Duties & Responsibilities Maintain a working knowledge of the sequential Control Logic that oversees the operation of the line Understand the different classifications of cores used, such as core thickness, core diameter etc. Know all the specifications used to define the product rolls such as length, weight, diameter. Utilize the Avanti software to log in specific details and product specifications. Actively watch the material running to identify any defects; must be able to identify the various types of defects. Responsible for flagging sections of jumbo with any defects or issues using proper color code. Operate an overhead crane and vertical wrapper. Change shaft extractors for respective core diameters used. Correctly set knives; must know how to adjust and replace knives as needed. Carry out functions of the wrapper i.e. set Film Tension, replace Shrink Wrap into Carrier, thread wrapper. Read and interpret information on labels; apply labels onto rolls. Identify the different colors of labels and understand the significance of each type. Utilize appropriate cardboard side covers for final product (rolls). Distinguish between an FDA Product and non-FDA product and follow proper FDA rules and protocols when applicable. Collect standard samples and for QA testing. Add re-feed to the machines as needed. Perform manual/automatic operations of the Rewinder. Read, fill and understand Operator Panel. Know parts and locations of Celli operating devises, such as alarms and lock system. Initiate E-Stops under necessary usage conditions. Perform routine maintenance procedures. Work across multiple lines, as needed. Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and utilize proper PPE. Keep work station clean and organized. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Must be able to work in a hot/non-climate controlled environment. Must be able to stand for 12-hour shift. Must be able to perform extensive walking; climbing multiple stairs throughout the shift. Job requires occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Purpose: Responsible for preparing and operating the Manufacturing Equipment such as Lathes and PEGS according to established procedures. Performs cleaning and adjustments to equipment. Performs all tasks related to running the equipment and ensure the process maintains continuous flow of units. Performs a variety of tasks with the work team that makes up the manufacturing line. These includes repetitive and non-repetitive tasks. Operates general manufacturing equipment such as: Lathe cutting machines, microscopes, comparators, optical benches, among others. When necessary, operates, executes the "setup" and adjusts the parameters of the manufacturing machines / equipment to ensure compliance with specifications and standards of the manufacturing processes. Adheres to environmental policy, procedures, and supports department environmental objectives. You will be responsible for: Performs set-up of the equipment for processing of the lens runs received from the previous process. Monitors machine performance to take immediate action according to results obtained. For Acrylics Machine Operator, need to be able to set up PO on the manufacturing line. Able to operate equipment and all measuring devices to produce IOL at the Lens Generation area. Ability to perform mathematical computations to set up and run machine and/or process. Performs the necessary tests to run the process and equipment. For PEG (Polyethylene Glycol), manages, utilizes and properly disposes of area reagents and processing supplies, including liquid and solid waste within the Sheet Casting area according to EHS dispositions and rules. For PEG, Washes the PEG fixture trays used in the unload/cleaning operation in the Washer Machine and ensures continuous flow. Documents, prints and analyzes all required information on production orders, PEG sheets, ellipsometer and plasma and pressure charts. Performs line clearance between PEG runs, following good manufacturing practices and established procedures. Maintains work area organized and clean. Performs preventative maintenance of the equipment. Checks equipment functionality, avoiding process deviations. Replaces the cylinders of the PEG, SiCl4 and H2O equipment. Cleans and washes the equipment that has been used. Qualifications / Requirements: Technical Degree in electronics, electricity, refrigeration, mechanics or related technical field and one (1) year of general experience; or J&J Vision Cell Operator Certification and one (1) year of general experience is required. Associate Degree is preferred. Experience as a Manufacturing Operator or similar position is preferred. Experience in the “setup” and adjustment of the parameters of the manufacturing machines/equipment: cutting machines, microscopes, comparators, “optical benches” and interferometers is preferred. Availability to work overtime, various work schedules, which include 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts, and/or 12 hours shifts, including weekends and holidays is required.
