This position will be responsible for, among other things, stages, shrink wraps and loads products by trip number and store number as it is received from the packing and pulling areas of the stockroom. Prepares palletized loads for shipment by shrink-wrapping product to ensure safe transportation or storage, including safe and proper balancing and placement of products. Perform all tasks according to the proper method for the DC-WMS or paper ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Locate and pull merchandise by matching item codes and numbers on the pick ticket against part number on the merchandise. Place merchandise in tote or stage bulk items in the appropriate area. When the order is completed, mark the tote by customer number and send down the conveyor. Make sure all totes are labeled for the correct store and do not exceed 60 lbs. Maintain DC standards for both accuracy and productivity when picking orders. Consolidate and pack all stock order merchandise quickly and accurately so the order can be checked in efficiently by the customer. Itemize all products not shipped in totes on the freight bill as soon as they are received. Make sure all freight bills are dated with the correct route and totaled at the day's end including hazardous material. Operate handheld computers (RF units) and/or voice picking equipment at WMS DCs. Check items off of the freight bill as they are loaded, making sure the number and types of items loaded match the freight bill total. Load trucks quickly and accurately. Tie and secure freight as it is loaded onto the truck. Keep picking zones supplied with totes as needed, and repair totes as needed. Start printers as necessary and sort tickets and labels by zone. Survey the marketplace regularly to ensure Summits' brands are represented to company standards and to monitor competitors' activities. Monitor service levels and delivery frequency, making recommendations for cost-effective changes to the Director of Delivery Operations. Monitor DOT requirements of all drivers along with HR. Monitor backstock for neatness and cleanliness. Develop a pre-plan weekly, follow up with driver concerns, check in on drivers while enroute, and maintain positive relationships with the customer base. Analyze all delivery routes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Monitor all product discrepancy reports and cash deposits. Ensure that all safety and vehicle inspections follow DOT and company procedures. Ensure staff complete pre- and post-trip inspections to company standards. Ensure proper communication of the delivery team with sales personnel regarding delivery issues that affect customer service levels. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications or training in logistics/material handling a plus. Valid Forklift Certification and a CDL preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or related fields. Prior experience in material yard operations strongly preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Creates and maintains promoters (raving fans) of clients interfaced with Knowledgeable in products carried. Assist retail customers and perform battery installations. Loads and offloads vehicles, prepares shipments, ensures warehouse is orderly, safe, and clean Labels products. Performs battery charging and reconditioning Performs inventory cycle counts and complete counts. Maintains accurate documentation of all inventory transactions.
