Responsible for filling, operating and maintaining automated chip wringer. Frequently moves average weight materials (over 5 lbs. and up to 60 lbs.) as necessary in the performance of the job or as directed. Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to supervisor. Maintains electric truck and fork truck in good operating condition. Maintains prescribed water level in batteries and plugs in for overnight re-charge. Maintains necessary records. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Perform other related duties as required or directed. Use specific packaging methods and review paperwork for accuracy. Make shipments in accordance with schedules and with applicable orders. Check order for inclusion of all items. Perform ERP system transactions immediately upon acceptance or completion of a specific task. Operate all material handling equipment including power fork trucks. JOB TITLE: MRF Sorter I DEPARTMENT: MRF Operations REPORTS TO: MRF Operations Manager/Supervisor This position is responsible for manually sorting inbound recyclables by designated material category, performing a quality control function by removing contaminant materials from the sorting conveyors. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Identify and sort inbound material by category (scrap metal, type of plastic, aluminum cans, aluminum foil, type of paper, OCC, residue, prohibitive, contaminants or new commodities as operational changes require).
