Full-time Description Provides painting services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and maintenance needs; preparing, painting, staining and/or wallpapering a variety of surfaces; ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards; and assisting other maintenance staff. Essential Functions Paints interior and exterior surfaces to include walls, doors, woodwork, ceilings, hand railings, stair casings, signs, etc. Prepares surface for painting including cleaning, taping, bedding, sanding, patching cracks and holes, and texturing of surfaces. Erects scaffolding, removes furnishings and covers carpeting prior to painting; cleans and restores area after painting. Works with various types of paints, solvents, lacquers, enamels, stains and varnishes; matches colors and textures on adjacent surfaces. Cleans brushes and ensures that tools and equipment are properly maintained. Monitors buildings and facilities for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance. Paints a variety of surfaces (e.g. buildings, parking lot line striping and markings, floors, lockers, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in an attractive, safe, and usable condition. May provide information order to identify needed supplies to supervisor for preparation of requisitions; may assist in the maintenance of inventory of paint, supplies and equipment. Prepares a variety of surfaces, furniture, fixtures and cabinets (e.g. stripping, cleaning, sanding, patching, masking, nail holes, cracks, joints, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that they are ready for painting and/or refinishing. Prepares requisitions for paint supplies and equipment. Observes safety regulations and safe work practices; ensures proper disposal of hazardous materials. Participates in meetings, workshops and trainings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions Completes work orders accurately and timely Keeps shop and work area clean, organized and clear of debris. Cleans and reorganizes after every job/repair. Properly stores chemicals, paint, flammables and equipment. Follows all OSHA safety guidelines Assures proper use and handling of ladders, tools and equipment. Responds to calls from staff and members for maintenance and other needs. REQUIRED Essential duties and responsibilities: Clean and prepare parts for paint following established procedures. Blast parts as required per coatings specification. Stencil parts as required. Read, interpret and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineered drawings, specifications and other written instructions or procedures to accurately coat equipment or products. Mix paint per coating specifications as instructed in work order. Load parts or equipment for paint on racks or tables. Hang or place parts for coating process in designated areas.
