    Paramedic job in Monterey, CA

    Under the leadership of the department director, assistant director, nursing supervisor, and/or charge nurse, the Emergency Services Technician is responsible and accountable for delivering direct patient care to all populations according to the policies and procedures of the hospital, Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit. Care provided is under the direct supervision of an RN. Important dimensions of this position consist of quality of care, professional commitment, teamwork, interpersonal skills, safety, and good public/customer relations. Experience One year (in the last 2 years) of experienced preferred in acute hospital or long term care setting. Must have direct patient care experience in the last 6 months including taking vital signs. Unit Receptionist / Monitor Technician experience may be required dependent upon shift. Education High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Current CNA or EMT Certification and knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Recognition of cardiac rhythms course completion within six months of hire. Must pass orientation and initial competency assessment prior to independent assignment of patients requiring the applicable skill, and must complete and pass all annual competencies. Must pass telemetry test within six months of hire. Licensure/Certifications Required: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification. Assault crisis training must be completed within the first 6 months of hire. Successful completion and maintenance of Telemetry Assessment. Preferences: Current emergency medical technician (EMT), paramedic, certified nursing assistant (CNA), medical assistant (MA) certification or be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
