Customer Experience

Operations

* Performs pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management. Reviews, interprets and accurately dispenses prescribed medications when necessitated by workload.
* Ensures the pharmacy operates in accordance to regulations, company policies and standards. Assists pharmacy manager with establishing procedures that promotes the efficient workflow of the pharmacy including assigning roles, coordinating activities and soliciting employee suggestions. Responsible for the opening and closing of the pharmacy and shift change duties.
* Ensures the use of all elements of the Good Faith Dispensing policy in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions. The Product Review/Retail Fill Process Pharmacist has the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the elements of Good Faith are present.
* Maintains current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems such as Intercom Plus, registers, automation, StoreNET to provide support to customers as well as pharmacy staff. Proposes and implements enhancements to pharmacy systems to further promote productivity.
* Ensures the accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections. Follows-up with insurance companies as well as medical providers and participates in 3rd party audit.
* Follows-up with medical providers' offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions and allergies to suggest alternative medications, and answer medical provider questions
* Performs retail, clinical, and wellness services such as immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness and other preventive healthcare services.
* Assists and supports the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data including pharmacy financial, customer service, and implementation of procedures for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management. Reviews KPI's with Pharmacy Manager, Store Manager, and Healthcare Supervisor.
* Develops and maintains good relationships with local medical community including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers. Participates in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and further enhance growth opportunities.
* Partners with Central Pharmacy Operations for customer registration, 3rd party reviews, and assists with resolving customer issues to support the Well Experience locations. In virtual environments, conducts virtual product review by following specific company procedures and guidelines (e.g. using specific photographs taken by the technicians sent electronically during the F4 process and reduce transactional tasks).

* Assists the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training. Reinforces the direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, and providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering employee development.
* Promotes teamwork and motivates team members by establishing expectations, monitors and recognizes progress, and fosters a shared vision.
Training & Personal Development
* Maintains current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy related journals, company publications, and communications. Maintains awareness of developments in retail and management and pursues best practices that would enhance performance
* Obtains necessary certifications, education credits and training such as People Plus Learning modules as required by the Company
* Seeks professional development by monitoring one's performance, solicits for constructive feedback, and leverages pharmacy manager and store manager as mentor and coach
Communications
* Supports the Pharmacy Manager and Store Manager by communicating relevant corporate health and wellness services or strategy information to pharmacy staff.
Basic Qualifications
* Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited educational institution prior to the start date in position.
* Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 90 days of hire per district guidelines.
* Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.
* Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.

General Summary:

3. Ensure claims are properly filed in the QS-1 NRx environment. Enter customer purchases into Point-of- Sale system.
4. Accept telephone prescriptions and refills from physician offices as well as written prescriptions from patients. Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions.
5. Handle telephone inquiries, and assist in resolving issues and complaints in a timely manner.
6. Using aseptic technique, accurately prepares Compounded Sterile Products (CSP), including chemotherapeutic medications.
7. Insures the safety of all patients and personnel by following CHC protocols and NIOSH/OSHA guidelines for preparation, delivery, and disposal of potentially cytotoxic agents.
8. Inventory control and accurate handling of pharmaceuticals, packing slips and invoices.
9. Check physician infusion orders for appropriateness and completeness based on knowledge of protocols, regimens and patient history. Review original orders or initiate review of original orders by RN if orders are inappropriate or incomplete Precisely charges and credits patients, nursing units, and other facilities for medications dispensed from Pharmacy. Monitors and maintains drug (including controlled substances), research, assistance inventories and associated logs.
10. Supervise infusion technician preparation of infusion medications and solutions assuring use of appropriate and safe technique, accurate selection of ingredients, and inspection of product before dispensing for treatment in clinic.

About the Medication Care Coordination Team
The Medication Care Coordination (MCC) team is a centralized pharmacy team that works closely with insurance companies, treatment providers, clinical, and administrative staff across a variety of care settings to coordinate effective care delivery and revenue cycle integrity for patients receiving infusion services across Corewell Health. Scope of Work
This position is a supportive role for the systems ambulatory clinics. The tasks for this position will include, but are not limited to, completing pre and/or prior authorizations, assisting with patient assistance programs, scheduling patients from provider referrals or other registries, working with insurance companies to review coverages, communicating with patients and clinical staff, and managing parts of the medication use cycle. There will be additional opportunities to think innovatively and collaborate on projects with other departments and within our own department.
Pull, transcribe, and organize clinical information from patient charts into third party platforms or navigators.
Complete authorization requests in a timely and efficient manor without compromising quality, to ensure patients receive their care as scheduled.
Identify and schedule appointments for pharmacists from provider referrals, quality reports, and other available registries.
Demonstrate the ability to utilize all payer websites to assist verifying patient's coordination of benefits and authorization requirements.
Assist with inventory and medication use cycle tasks if in clinic.
Organize and track data for multiple payer programs and service lines.
Communicate positively and effectively with patients, colleagues, and clinic staff.
Adhere to all department procedures, guidelines, and standard work with the ability to utilize resources appropriately.

Pharmacy Technician Supervisor FT Second Shift BMH
Under the direction of the Inpatient Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor will be responsible for supervising the activities of the inpatient pharmacy technician and service clerk staff, narcotic tracking and accountability, new hire orientation and training, facilitation of cross-training and development of current and future technician staff, oversight of outdate sections in the central pharmacy, unit inspections, and technician scheduling. This role will play a part on the pharmacy leadership team and will be involved in, or will lead, committee meetings, process improvement initiatives, and implementations of new systems. This job will be directly responsible for performance matters and evaluation of pharmacy technician and pharmacy service clerk staff.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with courses in mathematics and basic algebra required. Must have at least 2 years of pharmacy tech experience in a hospital setting, with a preference towards individuals with previous experience in a leadership type role. A medical terminology course is preferred.
Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan. Must have nationally recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB, CPhT, or equivalent) within one year of hire into the Pharmacy Technician job. Pharmacy students currently enrolled in an accredited school of pharmacy with a valid pharmacy intern license are not required to have Pharmacy Technician Certification.
Must be qualified at the Pharmacy Technician II level. To be eligible for a Pharmacy Technician II job, must demonstrate 12 months of Level 1 competency (or equivalent) and is competent in 4 identified areas. A technician may advance to Level 2 once he/she has demonstrated 12 months of competency in 4 identified functional areas. An exception to the 12 month guideline can be made for a technician with several years of previous pharmacy technician experience who has clearly demonstrated competency at an accelerated rate (may be seen especially in initial transition and with new hires with substantial prior hospital pharmacy technician experience).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a clean, well lighted & temperature controlled environment. May work in chemotherapy preparation satellite, working with hazardous carcinogens, however, normal safety precautions and protective equipment are provided to minimize risk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time.
Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor must be able to work as a team member and be able to communicate effectively with visitors, physicians, hospital personnel, pharmacy staff, and administrative staff. Such dealings may often require the use of significant tact in order to handle sensitive matters. The Supervisor must be an excellent communicator in verbal and written modes. Must communicate well under pressure and maintain the highest level of professionalism in all situations.
* Generate, review and compare various reports
* Hires, develops, evaluates, and (when necessary) disciplines and discharges subordinates or makes authoritative recommendations in such matters
* Completes internal managerial training (e.g., Leadership retreats, Bronson Leadership curriculum, Kalamazoo Leadership Team (KLT) meetings)
* Implements leadership techniques in daily supervision activities
* Informs the Inpatient Pharmacy Manager and Director of trends within the department
* Training and orientation of new hires.
* Schedules and assigns work to subordinate staff; adjusts work schedules and assignments to compensate for fluctuating patient load, staff shortages, workload volume and other contingencies
* Approves/denies PTO
* Evaluates information obtained from (a ) personal observations, (b) communications with staff, (c) communications with medical and allied personnel, (d) and communications with patients and family to determine the quality of pharmaceutical services provided; recommends or implements changes in the central pharmacy operation as needed in collaboration with the Inpatient Pharmacy Manager.
* Responsible for the deployment, integration, and modeling of the behaviors and standards of Bronson's Plan for Excellence in areas of direct responsibility and throughout the entire Bronson Healthcare Group.
* Assist with technician goal setting
* Participate in peer interviews for new technicians
* Track technician outdates areas and unit inspections
* Create work schedule for technicians and service clerks
