Key Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Hot Plant Operator include, but are not limited to: Hot Plant Management & Operation Operate the companys portable hot plants at various job locations throughout central and western Montana Manage and schedule raw material deliveries, and oversee other employees assigned to hot plants Work closely with the Paving Manager to determine the most effective pit layout, ensure the hot plant operations and asphalt mix design are meeting the expected specifications, and meet the supply demands of the paving crew in a timely manner. Operate the loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Serve as the contact for the MDT asphalt tester who collects samples of asphalt mix for laboratory testing to measure compliance with volumetrics specifications Serve as the key contact for the MDT Plant Inspector for asphalt mix performance and supply Train new employees on the safe and efficient operation of the hot plant. Identify and implement process improvements. Perform all communication and management activities in a professional manner, particularly during stressful situations. Monitor and manage crew member performance, ensuring the timely arrival and participation of all crew members, and notify employees of weather delays, prior to the start of work. POSITION DESCRIPTION HGL is currently seeking a part-time Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 to support work on the Belt Water Treatment Plant (WTP) site in Central Montana. This position is a team member of on-site project personnel to operate the Site's water treatment plant and to monitor plant operation and adjust process control variables to maintain efficient/optimum treatment rates. Systems within the treatment plant include a desktop computer (Human Machine Interface), variety of pumps, tank mixers, and clarifiers. The position requires personnel to operate and monitor a variety of pumping stations located across the Site to ensure proper water containment and compliance with the overall water management plan. Pumping equipment includes centrifugal pumps, electric motors, submersible pumps, well pumps, and numerous diesel-powered emergency backup generators. The Site is staffed 2 to 8 hours per day, 365 days per year with a minimum of one operator onsite. Weekend and holiday work is sometimes required. Occasional extended shifts are required due to planned and unplanned work conditions. Planned work conditions may include overseeing earthwork subcontractors, relocation of sludge piping, and completing critical repairs. Unplanned extended shifts may include plant outages and bad weather. The part-time Water Treatment Plant Operator 1 position requires working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions. Occasional periods of heavy physical labor (shoveling, lifting, etc.) are required. The position will work 2-8 hour shifts with weekend coverage. Work hours will average 15-30 hours per week. The part-time Water Treatment Plan Operator 1 will be responsible for weekend coverage and will report to the Water Treatment Plan Operator lead. Responsibilities/Duties WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING The person hired for this role will be responsible for: Operating and monitoring a variety of water pumping stations and treatment plant facility with various treatment systems. Performing surface and groundwater sampling activities. Preserve samples according to established project SOP guidelines. Perform water quality analysis using both bench top instruments as well as field instruments. Operation and maintenance of all capture systems, water conveyance lines, and electrical lines onsite. Maintain weekly pumpback checks - recording flow and discharge data. Influent/effluent sample collection and assistance with field lab analyses, including but not limited to: pH; Specific Conductivity; Arsenic; and Metals. Site-wide maintenance and management including: General site maintenance of stormwater controls, snow removal, freight, and fencing. Assist with both regularly scheduled preventative maintenance and non-routine maintenance of all pumps and equipment. Safe equipment operation including operation of the following equipment: 4-wheel drive pickup, mini excavator, skid steers, and manlifts. Operation of HDPE fusion machine. Complying with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) policies, including Readiness Reviews. Complies with procurement policies.
