Marginal Duties
• The Volunteer Coordinator will serve as an ambassador for Scenic Hudson by engaging local organizations and the public through growing and distributing fresh produce, hosting public events, community-science, learn-and-serve projects, and other programmatic activities. Much of this will be done as part of a small team, some with volunteers and some independently. Position requires travel with a personal vehicle throughout the Hudson Valley. Evening and weekend work will be required on an average of three times per month. • Under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Community Projects Manager, work with Scenic Hudson's Parks and Community Engagement Team; River Cities Team; and the Science and Stewardship Team to develop, coordinate, promote and help run three seasons of volunteer activities in urban and rural environments located in the Hudson Valley. Examples of volunteer activities include, but are not limited to community science programs, urban farming, tree plantings, invasive plant management and trail work. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Organizing Manager also serves as a member of the NYCLU's Middle Management Team. This position is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with the NYCLU. The person in this position will be a mid-level manager.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and manage a team of Regional Directors and/or Organizers staff in the Capital Region, Hudson Valley, and Long Island offices.
Foster the professional development of Field Department staff using, among other tools, performance evaluations and professional development and training plans.
Support the Field Organizing Director to plan, monitor, track, and Department's budgeting and spending within their assigned regions.
Work with the Director, Assistant Director and other Organizing Managers to implement Department wide plans, including mapping organizational relationships, trainings for organizers, community workshops and educational offerings, volunteer engagement and mobilization.
Serve as a member of the Middle Management Team on program and organizational matters, including hiring committees and participation in at least three NYCLU issue areas.
Support the development of the NYCLU's community education initiatives, which includes (but is not limited to) “Know Your Rights” workshops, skill-based trainings, and other presentations.
Assist in the development of educational and organizing materials and coordinate messaging to the NYCLU's base.
Supervise Field Department staff in developing and facilitating coalitions with key community members, groups, and grassroots organizations to achieve shared goals.
Assist the Director of Field Organizing in expanding the NYCLU's statewide network of support and alliances by identifying strategic allies and building new partnerships that will strengthen and broaden our impact.
Supervise Organizers in coalition and movement building activities designed to strengthen strategic partnerships and broaden our movement and base.
Actively and continuously engage a diverse set of policymakers, stakeholders, and thought leaders from across the ideological spectrum within their assigned regions, in coordination with the Policy Department.
Closely coordinate with other NYCLU departments to develop and execute NYCLU campaign plans and rapid response actions to urgent, unanticipated threats to civil rights and civil liberties.
Oversee the region-specific development and implementation of base-building and organizing plans that expand the NYCLU's base to reflect our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and center our work in impacted communities.
Supervise the planning and execution of statewide lobby days, annual legislative conferences, and community engagement events.
Actively support the NYCLU's internal and external commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of political, community or issue advocacy organizing experience.
2-3 years supervising organizers on volunteer engagement and/or public education campaigns.
Experience working with elected officials in the State Legislature and local elected officials.
Excellent public speaking, writing, and communication skills.
Substantial experience in legislative, community or political organizing work.
Strong ability to prioritize and complete tasks, with a proven ability to proactively set & meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to advocate effectively, including an ability to initiate and follow through on campaign effort.
Demonstrated commitment to the goals and priorities of the NYCLU.
Self-motivation and an ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to regularly travel within Central & Western NY regions (Rochester, Syracuse and Buffalo) and to Albany and New York City headquarters, as needed.
Bachelor's degree in public policy or other related areas preferred.

Officers who work in the five boroughs of New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, or Westchester counties will receive an additional $1,762 annual downstate adjustment.

The Office Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring the effective administration and operational success of the Office of Community-Engaged Learning (OCEL). This role reports to the Director of Community-Engaged Learning, Teaching and Scholarship and works closely with the OCEL staff. The Office Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the OCEL, supports departmental administrative and financial systems, maintains the Officeʼs registration process and record keeping, supervises OCEL student workers, and arranges transportation for Community-Engaged Learning and the Vassar Education Collaboration (VEC). This role serves as a key liaison between the OCEL and students, faculty, administrators, community partners, and campus offices to facilitate high-impact community engagement experiences. This is an in-person, full time, CWA Union position for the Full Year.
Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day operations of the OCEL and VEC programs, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow across all program and administrative activities.
Supports the budget operations of the office/department: reconcile reports and corporate cards; make vendor payments; process invoices; process journal entries; ensure expenses are charged to appropriate budget accounts and remain within department allocations; provide notice if out of alignment.
Creates processes, monitors workflows, and ensures accuracy of products created by automated department systems (i.e., Zapier).

Communicate in multiple modes with department members, vendors, on-campus offices, alumnae/i, volunteers, and/or other off-campus partners to complete departmental tasks.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities
Three years of progressively responsible administrative support experience.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Word Office suite, Canva, and ability to learn additional technical systems.
Ability to consistently apply policies and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interact effectively with a diverse community.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to interact socially with others.
Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities
Five years of progressively responsible administrative support experience.
Previous supervisory experience.
Associates degree or other higher educational experience.
Experience working with software systems including finance and accounting systems, payroll, student information systems, or customer relationship management systems.
Compensation
The compensation for this position is $22.40 per hour.
