Overtime Pay: Up to 25%
Duty location impacts pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in some locations than others. A fully trained BPA may be eligible for up to an additional 25% of base pay per the BPA Pay Reform Act of 2014. This is a career ladder position with a grade level progression from GL-9 to GS-11 to GS-12. You will be eligible for a promotion to the next higher grade level (without re-applying) once you successfully complete 52 weeks in the lower grade level.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation's economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
· Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
· Preventing and apprehending aliens and smugglers of aliens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations.
· Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
· Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks.
· Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications:
GL-9: You qualify for the GL-9 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
· Performing physical searches of detained individuals, their vehicles, and their immediate surroundings for weapons, contraband, currency, and other evidence.
· Apprehending, physically restraining, or working with law enforcement officials to identify or apprehend violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
· Proficient in the use of firearms, preparing investigative reports, serving court orders (e.g., warrants, subpoenas, etc.), and gathering evidence for criminal cases prosecuted through the court system.
If you have previous or current law enforcement or military law enforcement experience, you may qualify at the GS-11 grade level.
GS-11: You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, with the authority granted by the state or government to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes, performing primary duties in an official law enforcement capacity such as:
· Utilizing intelligence information to track illegal operations, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or contraband while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
· Leading investigations of fraud, contraband, criminal activity, threats to our nation, and/or illegal operations to determine sources and patterns while serving as a state, federal, or military law enforcement official.
· Apprehending violators of state, federal, or immigration laws by utilizing various forms of complex technology that include surveillance, detection, situation awareness systems, and/or communications equipment.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
There are no education substitutions for the GL-9 or GS-11 grade-level Border Patrol Agent opportunities.
Other Requirements:
Citizenship: You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.
Residency: You must have had primary U.S. residency (including protectorates as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
Age Restriction: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions. Candidates must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching their 40th birthday in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Directive 251-03. The age restriction may not apply if you are currently serving or have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement (non-military) position covered by Title 5 U.S.C. 8336(c) or Title 5 U.S.C. 8412(d).

Formal Training: After you are hired, you will be detailed to the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico, for approximately six (6) months of intensive instruction in immigration and nationality laws, law enforcement, and USBP-specific operations, driver training, physical techniques, firearms, and other courses. Border Patrol work requires the ability to speak and read Spanish, as well as English. Border Patrol Agents will be provided training to become proficient in the Spanish language at the Academy.

Be at least 19 years of age.
Be a high school graduate or its equivalent as determined by the department.
Not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement, or have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person, who after September 30, 1999, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to or is found guilty of any felony or a misdemeanor involving perjury or false statement is not eligible for employment, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication. The affidavit must include conspicuous language that the intentional false execution of the affidavit constitutes a misdemeanor of the second degree. The Department shall retain the affidavit.

SPECIAL NOTES:
DJJ Detention facilities operate 24/7/365 and positions require shift schedules. Staff members must be agreeable to working shift schedules, including rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays with varying days off. There may also be times when unplanned overtime or unscheduled double shifts are necessary.
All prospective candidates will be subject to a sex offender check, criminal background checks (state, local, and national) and pre-employment drug screening for direct care positions.
DJJ participates in E-VERIFY (Employment Eligibility).
When identified on a position description, a valid driver's license is required. If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state driver's license within 30 days of hire. Licenses suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/education only licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable. Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
Positions that include the transportation of youth while performing any work or work-related functions on behalf of DJJ, require: (1) a valid driver's license; and (2) three-years acceptable driving record as defined in FDJJ Policy 1920.
Successful candidate must be certified in accordance with the Department direct care training policy, and must obtain such certification within 180 days of employment.
For those candidates, not currently in the state system as a direct-care worker for DJJ at the time of application, the top-ranking candidate(s) after the interview phase will be required to take and pass an Ergometric's IMPACT Assessment and Training Test in order to be considered for the direct-care employment opportunity. This test will be used to measure the candidate's overall suitability for working with juvenile justice involved youth. Test results will be used for a period of six months after initial testing for candidates who reapply during that period for another position for which testing is required.

Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep our guests, team and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guest. + Support total store sales, guest serviceand increase profitability by ensuring product is in stock and available to our guests by preventing and resolving theft.
+ Resolve theft by using good judgement and conductingapprehensions in shortage focus areas while strictly adhering to AP policies and procedures.
+ Identify theft trends by leveraging technology, reporting and surveillance tactics.
+ Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
+ Understand and appropriately usevideo systems to monitor theft activity.
+ Respond to security incidents and submitappropriate documentation for all incidents following AP policy and procedures.
+ Promote a physical security and safety culture for our team members and guests by creating awareness and training safe and secure standards throughout the building.

GENERAL PURPOSE:
This position provides a visible presence at the Store entrances/exits, mitigating theft and fraud and maintaining a safe and secure environment for Associates and Customers. The Specialist makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a prominent, courteous and friendly manner deterring opportunity for theft by demonstrating "command" presence in a Company issued vest/required black attire, and monitoring the Code 50 package inspection policy. Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment:
* Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do and assists Store Leadership in maintaining a safe and secure environment for both Associates and Customers.

* Receives, investigates, and validates complaints of violations to the County's ordinances, codes, and regulations about the most common violations regarding operational and tag requirements of all vehicles, parking and storage requirements of recreational vehicles, prohibition of weeds, litter and exotics, fence permits, prohibited uses of unimproved property, vertical construction requirements, canopy tents and/or shade permit requirements as well as regulations about the number and type of animals in residential areas; obtains witness and/or complainant statements.
* Reviews blueprints, plats, and various maps; ensures structures are constructed to plan or waste materials are disposed of properly.
* Performs research to determine ownership, location, and legal description of the property, zoning requirements, and other concerns; obtains property deeds; and research permits; informs citizens and business owners of violations and explains problems; prepares, issues, and/or posts warnings, notices of violations and citations for code violations; and issues citations and notices to appear to violators.
* Re-inspect properties to ensure infractions have been abated and properties are in compliance with all regulations.
* Provide direction to Code Enforcement investigative staff (Park Rangers, law enforcement, Domestic Animal Services, and Public Utilities) regarding Code Enforcement Board (CEB) and Office of Special Magistrate (OSM) rules and regulations and hearing proceedings.
* Schedules, attends, and oversees pre-hearing meetings for both OSM and CEB; researches and compiles all data outcomes from CEB and OSM hearings and enters them into the Department database; generates and completes required post-hearing results and fees; transfers appropriate evidence that was presented at the hearing to Minutes and Records; and reviews CEB and OSM hearing minutes for accuracy.
* Prepares and reviews legal documents used in the prosecution of violators and attends hearings to provide testimony; prepares legal documents to obtain inspection warrants; negotiates and drafts stipulated agreements for presentation in the appropriate legal forum; and acts as a prosecutor for the County and presents code violation cases (or citations) before the Special Master or the Code Enforcement Board for adjudication.
