JOB SUMMARY:

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
U.S. Citizen
Valid driver's license.
A minimum age of twenty-one (21) years or as otherwise allowed by state law, but must not have reached their 40th birthday. Qualified applicants shall meet the age requirements at the time of application submittal (i.e. a 20 year old will not be eligible until their 21st birthday).
Certified full-time sworn law enforcement officer with two (2) or more consecutive years of full-time law enforcement experience.
Certified law enforcement officers in another state must meet the conditions of reciprocity as regulated by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) and must have been employed as a full-time law enforcement officer in good standing for at least 12 months preceding the application.
Offer letters will be provided on the condition of successful completion of all ILETSB requirements.
Associate's degree in any field or three (3) or more years of full-time military experience with an honorable discharge.
Any candidate must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
STARTING SALARY RANGE:$80,472.00-$97,860.00annually dependent on qualifications.The salary range for this position is$80,472.00-$118,782.00 This position is represented by a union; you may refer to the Metropolitan Alliance of Police Schaumburg Chapter No. 195 collective bargaining agreement available on our website.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

Greet all guests entering the facility.

Perform building, gate and property perimeter checks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of law enforcement experience.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for one year of the required experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 60 semester hours which substitutes for two years of experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification may be required at the time of application.
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
May be required to qualify annually with a firearm.
For some positions, applicant must be eligible for bond.
NOTE:
All classified jobs in State service with policeofficer and wildlife enforcement titles qualify as law enforcement.
Jobs outside State service that will qualify as law enforcement are those performed while commissioned with the power of arrest.
Military police in the armed services are law enforcement; security/guard duty is NOT qualifying.
Any college hours or degree must be from a school accredited by one of the following regional accrediting bodies: the Middle States Commission on Higher Education; the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; the Higher Learning Commission; the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Police Auxiliary Officer (Police Department) part-time
Looking to support your community and gain valuable experience in law enforcement? The Police Department is seeking dedicated individuals to serve as Police Auxiliary Officers in a non-sworn capacity.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is a non-sworn employee who shall not carry a firearm, nor be assigned duties requiring sworn officer status. An employee in this position shall wear an authorized uniform, maintain hours appropriate to the assignment, and receive training appropriate to the duties performed. This position performs traffic control, parking enforcement, special event duties, front desk services, crime-free program liaison activities, booking duties community relations duties, and related tasks.
Auxiliary Officers need to be available to work at least 32 hours each calendar month. Auxiliary Officers hired after 09/01/12 must be available to work a minimum of three-midnight shifts per month.
JOB DUTIES:
1. Maintains a general knowledge of the department, ordinances, and state laws required to perform assignments.
2. Performs traffic control, parking enforcement, special event duties, front desk services, crime-free program liaison activities, booking duties community relations duties, and related tasks as assigned.
3. Performs detention facility duties including processing, searching, and monitoring prisoners.
4. Inspects each assigned police vehicle for proper equipment and reports any damage before and after their tour of duty.
5. Female officers shall assume the responsibility for the proper handling of female prisoners.
6. Trains newly hired officers utilizing current field training standards and procedures, if designated as training officers.
7. Responds to citizen requests for vehicle lock out service.
8. Performs functions associated with installation and removal of Denver boot equipment.
9. Utilizes technology, including the Real-Time Information Center, to assist with calls for service and proactively monitors these systems for criminal or suspicious activity when assigned or time permits.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Assigned Duty: Front Desk
1. Attends to the front desk at the police department building; answers inquiries, utilizes computer systems, communicates via radio, completes reports, and generally provides information and assists persons, conducts Metra train pass transactions. Monitors entry and exit of visitors and workers, as well as alarms and security cameras.
2. Assists officers with a variety of functions including but not limited to, bond-out paperwork, bond exchanges, outside contacts, coordinating responses (including towing companies, board up services, taxi transportation, and other village departments and services), etc.
3. Performs the relief of duties associated with either Call-Back Officers and Customer Service Center Representatives, as needed.
4. Prepares and disseminates notification pages and emails.
5. Assists with vehicle repossessions, relocations, and vehicle tow releases.
6. Maintains sex offender registrations and warrant procedures.
Assigned Duty: Crime-Free Program
1. Supports the crime-free multi-housing program by facilitating landlord seminars, conducts Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) assessments, and participates in resident crime prevention socials.
2. Meets with property owners, managers, and homeowners association boards as needed.
3. Processes incident records, including but not limited to, reviewing calls for service data, and assisting beat teams with nuisance rental properties using the residential rental ordinance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education equivalent to a high school diploma.
2. A minimum of one year of customer service-related experience.
3. CPR certification preferred or ability to obtain within six months from the date of hire.
4. Possession of a valid driver's license.
5. Proficiency with current computer technology, job-specific software, and customer service systems.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Exposure to all and extreme weather conditions.
2. Exposure to personal danger associated with traffic control and contact with persons in booking/lock-up.
3. Lift and carry equipment of 50 pounds.
4. Climb flights of stairs, maneuver around obstacles.
5. Perform lifesaving procedures.
6. Function effectively under stress.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $24.89 - $27.74 per hour working up to 19 hours per week. Salary dependent on qualifications. The salary range for this position is $24.89 - $36.27. This position is represented by a union; you may refer to the AFSCME collective bargaining agreement available on our website.
