At IDEX we are focused on attractive markets where there is sustainable competitive advantage based on technology leading to high growth and profitability._ **PRIMARY FUNCTION:** Evaluate, prepare and implement designs, processes and equipment in order to meet or exceed the requirements of the new product projects and or other improvement projects as-assigned. **REPORTS TO:** **Engineering Manager** **TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** + Plan and drive projects to ensure in-scope, on-time and on-cost development and delivery. + Perform contract review at start of the project, generate full specification and design in-order to develop new product. Identify process and technology gaps and integrate into new and/or existing product or process platforms. + Manages, leads and takes full responsibility of the projects from Explore to Implementation stage of the project. + Hands-on approach, data collection and analysis, writing standard operating procedure (SOP), building Inspection test plans (ITP), champions issue resolution including other product development activities. + Determines root cause analysis for issues that arise during assembly and/or test of systems/products/processes; provides long term corrective action. + Liaise and communicate with internal and external customers to ensure full clarity of project status. + Leads solution generating activities in order to provide fit for purpose designs, equipment, tooling and processes includes performing DOE and or experimentation. + Using 3D CAD software, prepare full engineering design drawings to enable successful Proof of concept (POC) and handover to the operations team. Perform in-depth design review of the drawings through review and approval process. + Ensure full project documentation and change control complies with PPE quality systems. + Agree and control the design freeze stage of allocated projects/new products. + Lead special projects, existing or new product/tooling and process improvements by working with other departments. + Participates in the development and maintenance of new business processes; edits as necessary to ensure current practices are documented + Performs other duties as assigned that are not typical to the functional area. Duties will vary according to the project and/or the specific goals of the department in which the incumbent works. + Requires strong knowledge necessary to perform the job function such as an understanding of the engineering change order process (ECR/ECO), engineering prints, DFx (Design for Excellence) engineering principles, engineering specification waiver process, manufacturability analysis, product structure, bill of materials and root cause analysis. + Leads/mentors junior engineers, non-engineering staff including technicians. **Additional Responsibilities as-needed:** + Evaluate and present full CAPEX requirements for any proposed resource and equipment requirements. + Evaluates work methods, procedures and policies. + Moulding tool design/print to be developed on as-needed basis in collaboration with other functions **EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:** + BS level degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering discipline + 5-7 years' demonstrable experience of project lead/management, mechanical, manufacturing, machining industry, new product development/introduction (NPI) or related experience. + Experience with polymer, elastomers and plastics processing a plus + Experience with ERP system such as JDE for modules like building BoM, product routings, tooling setups etc + Commercially aware and competent user of stage/gate process + Demonstrable experience of 3D CAD software such as Solidworks. + Proficient in understanding and interpreting engineering prints including GD&T. Mould tool, jigs, fixture design an advantage. + Capable of working in fast paced dynamic environment and developing solutions to meet customer needs. + Excellent analytical mind, attention to details and problem-solving skills + Good verbal, written communication and team motivational skills + Able to work as part of a team and well organized + Self-driven and working with little supervision from manager. + Able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines + Ability to process, interpret and relay complex and confidential information + Willing to travel per business needs on short or long trips.
