*About the Position*
The *Sr. Product Engineer* works closely with customers to recommend products and solutions for new and existing applications. They identify new applications, modifications, and enhancements to meet customer specifications and service needs. They are responsible for all technical aspects of the sales cycle for potential application of company products to meet customer needs, including identifying opportunities; determining solutions; creating demand; preparing detailed product specifications and technical support; ensuring high quality and timely project execution and conducting follow-up technical support.
*Duties and Responsibilities*
* Works closely with the Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering teams within RNA and acts as a technical liaison between them and the customer.
* Reviews customer specifications and determine product compliance or exceptions; recommend appropriate products and configurations for customer applications or to meet customer or regulatory requirements.
* Provide technical support to internal and external customers for all RNA products and services.
* Accurately assess customer's needs, matching them with current RNA products or propose modifications to current products and/or propose new product concepts for further development by engineering.
* Identify emerging trends in the marketplace and communicate back to specified departments within RNA in a clear and detailed manner.
* Assist in new product introductions by being the resident “expert” and gaining knowledge and understanding of current and new product offerings that support RNA business initiatives.
* Keep current of evolving market and competitor technologies through literature, patents, trade shows, technical forums and close communication with the customer base.
* Participates in MRB meetings as required.
* Develops application documentation and implements/coordinates engineering changes.
* Assists Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to resolve technical production issues and improve quality.
* Oversees assembly and test of engineering prototypes by working closely with machinist, assembly personnel, and engineering technicians.
* Assists in cost calculation and pricing. Provides profitability and market information as appropriate.
* Travels as needed to visit customers, vendors, trade shows, and standards groups.
*Required Qualifications*
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* 5+ years of related experience and/or training in the interconnect/automotive industry.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Understanding of multiple engineering disciplines, i.e. metallurgy, polymer, chemistry, electrical, mechanical, failure analysis, EMC, power, signal integrity, etc.
* Solid understanding of how interconnect solutions are utilized within specific market segments.
* Experience in a Sustaining Engineering environment.
* Basic knowledge of industry standards, e.g. USCAR/EWCAP, AEC, IPC, ASTM, SAE, IEEE, IATF, etc.
* Ability to become a partner with the sales team and establish working relationships with customers by offering technical solutions that meet or exceed requirements.
