While reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing tasks necessary to provide high quality, efficient, timely shipment of Sonoco products. What You'll Be Doing:
The safety and health of employees take precedence over all duties of this role.
Operate spray polyurethane foam gun and spray into corrugated box to customer standards.
Perform trimming work requiring knives or cutters; may assist in assembly.
Assemble, pack, seal, prepare and place proper identification and stack finished parts.
Remove finished parts from assigned lines and verify quality specifications.
Sort, transfer and stack on pallets containers of finished products.
Load/Unload trucks using powered equipment and maintain proper paperwork.

Production Operator IIPerforms a variety of tasks requiring knowledge of production processes and responsible for day to day operations associated with the production lines.
Essential Functions
Responsible for overall maintaining of a production line, including starting and stopping of all equipment (palletizers, carton makers, carton sealers, drop packers, injection, etc.) as applicable.
Ability to perform minor adjustments to production equipment as directed. No mechanical work is to be performed without prior approval.
Responsible for accurately completing and updating information forms and logs such as Machine Report, Quality Report, Downtime Report and Carton Top Load Report
Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and actions and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operations. Personal protective equipment is to be used where required.
Housekeeping: maintain general housekeeping in all areas of production, including the break rooms and rest rooms. Bale plastic, cardboard and contaminated bottles when needed; grind bottles when needed.
Raw materials: keep bottle caps, labels, cartons, trays, tray and pallet wraps (plastic rolls), pallet glue for hot melt tanks, slip sheets, etc. in adequate amounts to ensure continuous smooth running of equipment and operation.
Maintain quality requirements in accordance with company standards; accurately filling out hourly inspection sheets based on overall production quality. Responsible for recognizing and reporting all quality defects immediately.
Ability to work in multiple areas of production with minimal supervision; perform relief duties when required
Ability to troubleshoot minor production equipment issues in all areas and collaborate with maintenance team as necessary.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
An Operator is one of the key members of our production team. Daily responsibilities include safely operating roll formers, coil slitters, and flat sheet shears. The finished product is quality metal roofing and wall panels.
You will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Operating a roll former to produce metal roof and side panels
Checking and visually inspecting produced panels against specifications to ensure a defect free product has been produced
Installing panel dies during tooling change and adjusting to panel specifications
Entering production quantities for each order into computer system
Operating a forklift for positioning coils at un-coiler
Operating overhead cranes to load coil stock
Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment and assisting in other departments as needed
Qualifications
Experience working in a manufacturing/production environment
Ability to operate a forklift
Ability to work independently and with others
High school diploma or GED
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must be able to read, hear, talk, drive lift trucks, wear PPE, and lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively
Must be able to stand or walk approximately 7 ½ hours minimum per work shift
Must be able to tolerate extreme temperature changes in the winter and summer months
Noise level is moderate to loud

About you and this role- What you will do in this role
A Production operator at the Elizabethtown plant is expected to operate batch mixers, continuous compounding units, packaging lines, and/or powered industrial trucks. The production operator is expected to produce quality material while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and safety focus on their daily work. Future opportunities could include operating assigned equipment to ensure safe, quality, and efficient operation of the entire plant. This includes transferring and loading packaged goods onto dry van trailers, unloading raw materials from tanker trucks and operating yard trucks to move empty/full trailers and tankers.
Responsibilities- Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role
+ Operation of batch mixing equipment, continuous compounding units, packaging lines
+ Assist or fully operate pail/drum filling operations
+ Follow procedures and practices to ensure a safe and efficient operation
+ Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
+ Performs adjustment and minor repairs to equipment. Assist mechanics, electricians, and other building personnel with trouble shooting and repair.
+ Participate in and write Safe Work Permits

Perform General Worker duties when not assigned to operate a machine.
Safety- Complies with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Monitors machine for hazards and reports any safety related concerns.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively to all work groups.
Ability to read, do basic math and work with basic tools (screw drivers, wrenches, etc).
Basic computer skills to work with Windows type applications.
