Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Acquires knowledge from their trainer to gain a full understanding of the roles and importance of leading by building a culture of excellence.
Shadows a store manager and/or manager trainee to learn the fundamental aspects of store operations, including preparing a presentation and a report on an operational area to be presented to ALDI executives.
Learns aspects of the Customer Satisfaction Pyramid while conducting customer walks and participating in store tours.
Learns and understands all relevant store operations policies and procedures.
Assists trainer with all administrative tasks (i.e. payroll, sales book, memo verification, invoices), as well as hiring, including interviews and orientations.
Assists with inventory, and participates in a store reset and a grand opening if possible.
Takes initiative to create excellent store conditions and improve store associate performance and stock efficiency.
Works closely with members of assigned team to develop subject matter knowledge.
Attends company/department/team trainings and meetings as appropriate.
Maintains a high level of professionalism by demonstrating excellent attendance, adhering to company guidelines, meeting objectives thoroughly and on time, etc.

Springfield Armory National Historic Site is located in Springfield, Massachusetts, an urban area with a population of approximately 150,000. Springfield offers typical city amenities, including a hospital, churches, lodging, stores, and transportation options. The surrounding area includes many suburban towns, colleges, universities, and cultural attractions.
The region experiences four distinct seasons and offers various recreational opportunities as part of the Connecticut River Valley and gateway to the Berkshires. Historically, and still today, Springfield is situated at a transportation crossroads, with easy access to major East Coast cities via highway, Amtrak train, and Bradley International Airport.
If the intern stays in park-provided housing, they will be less than two miles from the nearest hospital and will pass several grocery stores and restaurants on their daily commute. The anticipated work environment for the Fish & Feathers Intern will include a mix of office and outdoor field work. Office work will involve training, meetings, research, programdevelopment, promotional material creation, and occasional visitor center support. Field days will include presenting urban birding programs on the armory grounds or participating in fishing or bird banding events with partner organizations. The intern should be able to walk 1-2 miles and navigate moderate inclines.

THE POSITION:
The Volunteer and Intern Program Manager is responsible for recruiting, managing, training, and appreciating volunteers, and for creating a centralized, consistent experience for interns across the organization in support of Save the Sound's mission and goals.
