Every day, we're solving our customers' biggest challenges and are honored to be their partner of choice. **THE ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES** The Quality Inspector provides technical support to Operations with respect to hands-on utilization of inspection equipment, with the primary goal of determining and reporting product conformance to requirements. The Quality Inspector will also support calibration activities and gage issuance and recall processes. As part of a continuous improvement philosophy, the Quality Inspector may lend specific expertise to investigation and project teams as warranted. The Quality Inspector must be able to effectively document and advise Management regarding product conformance and capability issues based on observable and repeatable findings. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Operate inspection equipment (Hand Gages, CMMs, Keyence optical comparators, etc), to validate product conformance to all internal and customer documented quality requirements. + Support capability evaluations, measurement systems analysis and improvement efforts for new and existing parts. + Perform advanced bench and layout inspections in addition to CMM / Keyence evaluations, to assist Engineering in completing proof of concept work + Support site Calibration processes by assisting in the completion of calibrations, updating the Gage recall systems, and issuing gages as needed. + Support resolution of measurement issues in the Cells and communicate recommendations for corrective / preventive action and quality improvement. + Support and participate in the Internal Audit Process, Certified Operator Audits, customer and process audits, and NADCAP Certification Teams, where necessary. + Support Preliminary Review of NCMR's for validity of rejections and clarity of documentation, where conditions warrant, may include the need to initiate and follow up on stock purges and line checks **QUALIFICATIONS** + High School diploma or GED equivalent + Must have or be willing and able to obtain Certification by The American Society for Quality. + Must be proficient in reading blueprints. + Working knowledge of Microsoft suite (Excel, Outlook, etc). + Requires a minimum of three years of experience working in a manufacturing facility with ISO9001/AS9100. + Requires experience in a role with responsibility to accept/reject product. + Must have experience with and be able to use inspection measurement hand tools and instrumentation. + Experience with gage repeatability and reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies and process capability measurement is preferred. + Bias for action, integrity, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, and superior communication skills are required competencies. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. + The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit. + The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. + The employee must be able to work long periods while utilizing fine hand dexterity and small part manipulation. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The QC inspector will be required to know and implement the NAAMM standards. Quality Control Inspector in assigned Business Units. Work with all levels of the organization including, the Business Unit Manager, Supervisors, and Associates to create a smooth, defect-free process. Sample production from every station to significantly reduce/eliminate escapes from your assigned Business Unit. Approve and/or perform first-article inspections on a job requiring this level of oversight. Assure all associates are trained/certified (if required) to operate to perform the tasks they are being asked to perform. Assist in the training, development, and/or creation of proper training materials as required. Perform any required QCHECKs in the Business Unit. The measurement of effectiveness will be a reduction of IRRs in the Inspector's assigned Business Unit and no escapes from the Inspector's assigned Business Unit to other areas. Inspect output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality. Using gauges such as tape measure, calipers, and micrometers to measure products and assure Quality is built into the product. Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods. Helping train the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence. Assist Associates in Transaction Control (Epicor). Help Associates attain defect-free entries. Monitor transactions to verify that the Associates are performing the task as required. Propose improvements to the production process. Assisting in the development of test methods and inspection plans. Help determine the causes of product defects and reworks. During product inspections, verify all equipment is calibrated correctly. Monitor the scrap hoppers three times during your shift and advise of any abnormalities. When needed, assist in the Sales Order Deviation Process. Always review issues immediately with the Business Unit Manager, Supervisors, and Quality Manager. OGS Machining is a medium-volume, production job shop whose average machining order is 100 - 500 pcs. 75% of our jobs are made from bar stock with the remaining 25% are machining castings or billet. OGS Industries is seeking a Quality Inspector at our OGS Machining location to ensure customer satisfaction through compliance of internal and external customer imposed quality control requirements. Essential Duties Understand and follow OGS quality system requirements. Review and understand customer requirements. Provide documentation and results during Receiving, Layout, In-process, and Final Inspection. Document SPC as needed to support quality efforts.
