Job Model: On-Site All fully remote positions will require you to travel on site 2-4 times per month depending upon business needs at your own expense. Hybrid positions will require employees to work both on-site and remote each week under a schedule that has been determined and agreed upon by you and your manager. On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts. A typical day at work would include: Responsible for the development and maintenance of the inspection and test criteria including documentation. Documents non-conformances as appropriate, i.e. NCMR's. Inspect incoming raw materials and machined product to determine acceptability in accordance with quality plans, engineering drawings, specifications or procedures. Inspect first run and production parts where standard tools are not available and special tools and layouts may be required. Processing and dispositioning of RMA's. Performs a variety of simple to complex statistical procedures for quality control, when applicable. Maintains quality records for the department according to ISO standards and Chesterton Quality System principles. Coordinates the process of component/material certification for first runs. Maintains and adheres to QC standard operating procedures. Maintains and adheres to quality control work instructions. Program and run CMM equipment to measure new components. Conducts specialized experiments and/or tests requiring mechanical set up skills, data compilation and technical report writing. Assists technical, manufacturing, and customer personnel in the investigation, corrective action and verification of customer and/or process problems, including customer relations. Makes recommendations and/or contributions regarding solutions to new techniques. Other duties as assigned. Experience you need coming into this job: Associates degree required, Engineering preferred. 4-6 years related experience in a manufacturing/quality environment. Machine shop background a plus. Requires extensive knowledge of machining operations, types of materials, applications, inspection tools and equipment, and basic math skills. Ability to use all types of inspection tools and equipment to ensure adherence to specification requirements, including set-up. Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings, including Engineering Specifications for component compliance. Ability to investigate process and/or customer service problems and suggest corrective actions. Customer communication skills. Works Independently. Able to program and run CMM. Ability to work well with multiple functions of the organization i.e. purchasing, manufacturing and engineering personnel. May interact with external contacts on routine matters and corrective action. Full use and application of quality tools and practices. Ability to investigate and solve a variety of technical, quality and process problems. Erroneous decisions or recommendations, including incorrect inspection data, may cause delays in production schedules. Strong math, writing, analytical and computer skills to ensure effective and accurate condition reports. Mechanical aptitude. Strong interpersonal/communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated understanding of quality control principles and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.
