Job Summary:
Responsible for ensuring the quality of processes and product within an assigned functional area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following represent general inspection functions which may or may not be required depending upon the functional area in which you are assigned. Inspectors may be reassigned to a different sub function at any time based on the business need, and training will be provided.
Perform dimensional inspection using mechanical and visual inspection equipment, such as an optical comparator, contour reader, dial indicators, inspection hand tools, surface plates, height gauges, air gauges, specialized bearing measurement equipment, and gauge blocks.
Measure bearing assemblies and/or component features such as roundness, concentricity, perpendicularity, flatness, sphericity, surface finish, surface noise and vibration levels using specialized equipment.
Complete basic control charts, run charts, prepare charts, and histograms.
Read and understand drawings, specifications, procedures, standards and instructions. Write inspection rejection reports in accordance with company procedures, and maintain detailed inspection records using appropriate forms. Make recommendations regarding quality and manufacturing improvements as needed.
Perform visual inspection of bearing assemblies, and/or bearing components, using microscope and the unaided eye.
Communicate with Manufacturing & Quality personnel and other disciplines as required in a timely and professional manner.

Program and run CMM equipment to measure new components.
Conducts specialized experiments and/or tests requiring mechanical set up skills, data compilation and technical report writing.
Assists technical, manufacturing, and customer personnel in the investigation, corrective action and verification of customer and/or process problems, including customer relations.
Makes recommendations and/or contributions regarding solutions to new techniques.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience you need coming into this job:
Associates degree required, Engineering preferred.
4-6 years related experience in a manufacturing/quality environment.
Machine shop background a plus.
Requires extensive knowledge of machining operations, types of materials, applications, inspection tools and equipment, and basic math skills.
Ability to use all types of inspection tools and equipment to ensure adherence to specification requirements, including set-up.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings, including Engineering Specifications for component compliance.
Ability to investigate process and/or customer service problems and suggest corrective actions.
Customer communication skills.
Works Independently.
Able to program and run CMM.
Ability to work well with multiple functions of the organization i.e. purchasing, manufacturing and engineering personnel. May interact with external contacts on routine matters and corrective action.
Full use and application of quality tools and practices.
Ability to investigate and solve a variety of technical, quality and process problems.
Erroneous decisions or recommendations, including incorrect inspection data, may cause delays in production schedules.
Strong math, writing, analytical and computer skills to ensure effective and accurate condition reports.

Targeted pay range: $27.00 - $28.00/hr. depending on experience
