Scope of Responsibility:
The purpose of this position is to oversee the quality of all galvanized products prior to sending to customers to ensure we are meeting or exceeding customer expectations and to conduct final inspections on customer product to ensure all products are free of uncoated areas, acid spots, lumps, projections, globules, edge tears, spikes or heavy deposits of zinc which will interfere with intended use of the product. Under the direction of the Manager or Shift Supervisor, the QC Specialist provides training, guidance and direction to employees in an efficient, clean, safe and cost-effective manner in order to achieve the goals and key performance metrics in line with the organization's objectives.
Essential Duties:
* Ensure all galvanized products meet Sabre quality requirements, minimize downtime, and promote efficiency and uptime.
* Perform final inspection to ensure all products are free of uncoated areas, acid spots, lumps, projections, globules, edge tears, spikes or heavy deposits of zinc which will interfere with intended use of the product.
* Measure the thickness of final product and document according to the quality program guidelines.
* Conduct all inspections in accordance with Sabre Galvanizing Work Instructions, SOP's, and associated ASTM specifications with regard to specific customer requirements that may go above and beyond the standard.
* Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
* Must use good judgment, follow instructions and have good problem-solving abilities.
* Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong ability to multi-task.
* Train and assess employees' competencies in the Skill-Based Pay process.
