ABOUT THE ROLE
The Quality Technician plays a key role in ensuring compliance with customer, industry, and internal quality standards in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) manufacturing. This position has a strong focus on process audits, ESD compliance auditing, and initial investigation of material and process issues. The Quality Technician documents findings and reports directly to the Quality Engineer, supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement efforts.
Major responsibilities:
Perform process audits across PCBA manufacturing operations to verify compliance with work instructions, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) audits to ensure personnel, workstations, and equipment meet established ESD controls.
Perform initial investigations of material issues or process issues identified during production, including defect containment, data collection, and communication of findings.
Document and communicate inspection, audit, and investigation results, and report findings to the Quality Engineer for review and action.
Carry out in-process, first article, and final inspections of PCBs to verify compliance with IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and customer requirements.
Issue non-conformance reports (NCRs) and assist with root cause and corrective action activities under guidance of the Quality Engineer.
Monitor adherence to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific quality requirements.
Support calibration and maintenance of inspection/test equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable measurements.
Collaborate with production staff and supervisors to provide feedback on quality issues, recommend corrective actions, and reinforce best practices.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen process controls, reduce defects, and improve yields.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical training in electronics, quality, or manufacturing preferred.
Experience in PCBA manufacturing or electronics assembly environment strongly preferred.
Familiarity with IPC-A-600 and IPC-A-610 acceptance standards.
Prior experience in process auditing, ESD auditing, or material/process investigations is highly desirable.
Understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Combination of production floor and inspection/office environment.
Requires use of microscopes, precision measuring instruments, and test equipment.
May involve standing, sitting, or bending for extended periods; occasional overtime as needed to meet customer deadlines.

Job Purpose
Coordinate the collection of random samples from production batches/lots. Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure product's physical characteristics. Use highly sophisticated and precise testing instruments.
This position is on 3rd shift.
Key Responsibilities
* Must follow all established safety rules and procedures
* Must demonstrate integrity while performing duties as per company's Code of Conduct
* Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product's physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests.
* Maintain and calibrate test equipment
* Maintain records and charts for all products that are checked by the individual.
* Record and report observations or test results in the appropriate QC card or file. The data should be complete and written legibly.
* Work with the QC manager, production staff, and development staff to evaluate production or field related problems.
* Help identify potential causes of complaints.
* Actively engaged in 5S activities.
* Helps sustain and improve organization in work areas.
* Perform area housekeeping responsibilities.
* In addition to performing the above technician responisibilities a level 2 technician must be able to perform the following:
o Evaluate test methods for repeatability
o Assist in calibration plans

Job Purpose
Coordinate the collection of random samples from production batches/lots. Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure product's physical characteristics. Use highly sophisticated and precise testing instruments.

Perform a wide variety of complex testing processes on production batches to measure product's physical or chemical characteristics. Tests include, but are not limited to, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, color characteristics (compared with standards), and various other similar tests.
Maintain and calibrate test equipment
Maintain records and charts for all products that are checked by the individual.
Record and report observations or test results in the appropriate QC card or file. The data should be complete and written legibly.
Work with the QC manager, production staff, and development staff to evaluate production or field related problems.
Help identify potential causes of complaints.
Actively engaged in 5S activities.
Helps sustain and improve organization in work areas.

Job Summary: We are seeking a hands-on, proactive, and detail-oriented Quality Assurance (QA) Technician to join our team at the Rensselaer, Indiana facility. This fully on-site role is key to maintaining and enhancing product and process quality to meet both customer expectations and internal performance goals. The QA Technician will be responsible for conducting inspections, performing tests, collecting and recording quality data, and ensuring compliance with internal SOPs, corporate quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory frameworks. You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Corporate Quality to resolve quality issues and ensure that products meet requirements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of quality control methodologies, measurement tools, and compliance frameworks such as ISO 9001. Responsibilities:
Perform and document quality inspections on incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods in accordance with AMBF's quality procedures, corporate quality standards, and product specifications.
Conduct process verifications during changeovers and start-ups to ensure alignment with quality parameters.
Ensure ongoing compliance with SOPs, corporate quality parameters, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
Perform product testing and inspections to verify conformance to quality and performance standards.
Accurately record and maintain quality data, ensuring integrity and full traceability in systems or batch records.
Promptly report non-conformances, deviations, or unusual findings to site leadership and escalate to Corporate Quality as required.
Initiate and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Support root cause analysis and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) activities under the direction of the Corporate Quality Manager.
Assist in training and onboarding new Production Operators on QIR checks, inspection procedures, and corporate quality standards to ensure consistent application of quality practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve quality-related issues.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate inspection and test equipment in accordance with calibration schedules and SOPs.
Monitor the condition of quality tools and equipment, and request recalibration or replacement when needed.
Follow all workplace safety protocols, including proper handling of chemicals and materials in accordance with SDS guidelines.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace by following GMP, 5S, and lean manufacturing practices.
Participate in internal audits and support broader corporate quality and compliance initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
2-4 years of QA or QC experience in a manufacturing environment; experience with filtration media is a plus.
Strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory frameworks such as ISO 9001, GMP, and corporate quality programs.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, product specifications, and test methods.
Skilled in the use of measurement and inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, and precision scales.
Familiar with CAPA, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Total Quality Management (TQM), and Continuous Improvement methodologies including 5S, PDCA.
Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
Able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, quality-driven production environment.
Comfortable working in controlled environments, following proper PPE and safety protocols.
