As a Lead Inspector, you will oversee the inspection, release and certification of products processed within production areas of the business unit. Responsible for the certification of products and for aligning the inspection group to meet internal and external customer targets. A portion of assigned working hours, will continue to perform hands-on technical work based on existing qualifications attained as a Technician. What you'll do: * Assists Operations Managers with production flow, and planning. * Leads, assigns work to inspectors. Reviews work in process and checks completed work to ensure quality and timely completion of job assignments. * Eliminates ordinary difficulties encountered in regular job assignments. * Demonstrates and encourages a team environment and works with team members to resolve conflicts. * Instructs other employees in the proper method and procedures of performing jobs when required. * Uses production systems to generate production routings, retrieve technical work instructions, document product condition, requisition material, report labor usage, and report product location and production status. * Generates measures of performance (MOP's) and assists with analysis and development of actions. * Provides support and guidance to production team and able to troubleshoot issues/problems. * Works with the Operations Managers to determine cell inspection training requirements, monitors progress to the plan and addresses any gaps. Assists with maintaining the cell skills matrix and iteration tracking. * Provides performance evaluation input to the Operations Managers for inspection team members. * Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes. * Responsible for immediately reporting any flight/product safety concerns. * Participates in pro-active risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes. * Updates and reports out on cost of poor quality. Leads and participates in identification of root cause and corrective actions. * Activity promotes CI, monitors progress within the cell and assists where required to ensure goals are met. * Acts as the primary liaison with engineering and other production personnel as required to troubleshoot, research, and solve technical problems. * Ensures all applicable safety requirements are followed and address any unsafe practices/conditions immediately. * Performs hands-on technical work based on existing qualifications attained as Detail and/or Quality Inspector. Position Requirements: * Minimum 5 years of experience. * Qualified in the detail and/or quality inspection functions. * Knowledgeable in the configuration and assembly of the products processed in the cells. * Knowledgeable in the assembly methods and techniques used. * Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments. * Proficient in dimensional inspection techniques. * Demonstrated knowledge of the applicable regulatory requirements relating to maintenance of aeronautical products. * Knowledgeable on the documentation completion requirements. * Knowledgeable in the quality requirements relating to the production process. * Proficient in decision making to ensure compliance to all customers, regulatory and company requirements. * Proficient in communication skills. * Ability to guide and train other levels of technicians. * Expertise with technical documents and manuals including, but not limited to company instructions, company processes, overhaul manuals, service bulletins and OEM manuals. * Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, blueprints and drawings. * Must be proficient in the use of tools, PME, and instruments necessary for the accomplishment of job duties. * Must have an understanding and working knowledge of hazardous material handling and disposal. * Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. * Must have demonstrated ability to use good judgment and make sound decisions. * Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Characteristics: * Must possess leadership qualities to include demonstrated ability to cooperate and work well with others. * Must have ability to perform high quality of work in a reasonable length of time, lead and direct the work of others. * Highly proficient with in depth knowledge of products, processes and technical functions within the production cells. * Working knowledge of production management computer system and other related internal control systems. * Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods.
