Candidates should also have knowledge of Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere and audio editing software. Familiarity with HTML and a solid understanding of video encoding techniques are a bonus. This individual will be responsible for day-to-day management of the Watertown Daily Times, a Monday-through-Friday daily newspaper that has served Jefferson and Dodge Counties since 1895. This position reports to Tim Sullivan, the outgoing Editor of the Daily Times, who has been promoted to Regional Editor, managing both personnel and the editorial direction of our titles in Southern Wisconsin. The ideal candidate has a passion for journalism and an eye for what is newsworthy - and what will capture the attention of the community. Understanding what it means to not only cover a small city but to become a part of it, and serving as the face of a community institution will be important. Managing a small but dynamic newsroom and getting the most out of reporters will be crucial. An understanding of the dynamics between digital and print publishing - and being able to excel in both - is a necessity. As this individual grows with the company, the opportunity to take on responsibility with additional titles in the region is available to high achievers.
