Food Technologist / Regulatory Specialist Duties and Responsibilities: Submit labels to the USDA and keep USDA approvals on file. Review and revise product labels to comply with USDA/FDA regulations. Create and update in-house Product Specification Sheets as well as Product Specification sheets for customers. Manage files of Suppliers Product Specification Sheets, Letter of Guarantees, and COAs, claim substantiation documents and records. Create nutritional facts panels using USDA nutrient database and/or Genesis software. Keep records of product, component, and ingredient assembly information. Create formulation sheets for production. Work cross functionally with operations, QA, production, marketing, and sales to ensure compliance on label and packaging and facilitate new product launches. Work with chefs, culinary consultants, and agencies in taking recipes from concept to production. Performs field and/or office research related to asset listings, field measurements, historical engineering drawings, equipment databases, inventory, electronic document management system (EDMS) records and other technical records to design equipment and layouts to produce facility drawings and to determine asset ownership. Field research may involve various physical activities. Performs basic engineering calculations. Reports results to engineer and supervisor. Assists with preparing more complex reports. Prepares bills of materials and various worksheets. Operates equipment, such as plotters, printers, copiers, and scanners. Maintains departmental engineering database(s) and performs data entry. Maintains and ensures control of engineering documents. Analyzes all new documents to determine classification for drawings, technical manuals, engineering manuals and reports. Creates and maintains other indices and files relating to department operations. Coordinates routing and tracks location of various documents, drawings and prints. Prepares and updates project scoping drawings based on field edits. Provides leadership and direction to less experienced technical support staff. May serve as internal and external point of contact for engineering-related information. Gathers engineering information by traveling independently to various locations (substations, power plants, water systems, etc.) as necessary. Minimum Qualifications: Three or more years of experience interpreting technical drawings/documents and performing technical analysis drafting using computer-aided design software or performing engineering design. A degree in computer-aided design, engineering technology or relevant field may be substituted per * guidelines for certain years of experience. Driver's license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of engineering principles, computer aided drafting principles, standards, and techniques. Knowledge of electronic document management systems (EDMS). Knowledge of work management systems. Advanced skill in computer aided drafting. Intermediate skill in reading and interpreting diagrams and prints. Intermediate skill level in office productivity applications (such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.). Skill in reading and interpreting technical information. Skill in the use of test equipment and/or other specialized tools. Skill in analyzing and solving problems Skill in verbal and written communication. Skill in operating plotters, printers, copiers, and scanners. Ability to perform accurate data entry. Ability to work in a team environment. Work Environment: Work hours are spent in an office, industrial, electrical substation and/or plant environment. Work involves exposure to noise and various and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Physical Demands: Work involves frequent finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard and mouse. Work involves climbing, crawling, crouching or other non-sitting positions in performing field duties less than 20% of the time. Work involves standing and/or walking in performing field duties less than 20% of the time.
