Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities
* Leads and/or mentors less experienced Technicians and/or Production employees.
* Sets up and uses various machines, fixtures and equipment both in the manufacture and testing of the product.
* Work with a variety of different products outside of the legacy MTV flare products currently in production.
* Builds products to print and/or engineering instructions.
* Conducts organized and accurate experiments
* Provide feedback to engineers and chemists on common blending, forming, assembly, and testing of products to aid with product and process development based on experience.
* Actively participates in engineering meetings, including but not limited to drawing reviews, design reviews, process hazard analyses, design FMEAs, process FMEAs.
* Takes initiative to improve R&D work areas in accordance with lean principles.
* Support transition of R&D products to Production including demonstrating mixing, forming, assembly, and testing practices.
* Work with other R&D staff to plan and execute tasks efficiently.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Creating lighting Programs for crop specialists
Execute planned trials and scheduled data events in a timely manner by collaborating with the lead crop specialist, operations manager, and other technicians.
Clearly communicate SOP's that are associated with the crop program that they are assigned to work with.
Help in creating SOP's for specific crop programs.
Participate in trial results presentations for trials you have been working on 1:1 with the lead crop specialist.
Keep up with maintenance of NCD sensors inside of grow zones.
Make decisions on trial changes when needed, with consultation from Crop Specialist.
Supervise day-to-day operations of research trials which include system maintenance and plant care. Plant care includes: irrigation scheduling, mixing fertilizer, pollination when needed, harvesting, pruning, seeding, transplanting, pest monitoring, etc.
Maintaining seed inventory for crop programs associated with.
Meet with the Lead Crop Specialist to go over future trial plans.

As an Assistant Chemist at Peterson, you will have the opportunity to do hands-on work with their Research and Development Team for products going to market. You will work together with a collaborative team of innovative scientists who value diversity of thought, teamwork, creativity, and integrity.
So, what will you be doing as an Assistant Chemist?
* Design and conduct experiments for lab preparations of flexible foams
* Physical and analytical testing of polyurethane foam and components
* Use standards-based methods to evaluate problems empirically and interpret findings
* Data procurement, recording, retention, and reporting
* Data analysis and report generation in Microsoft Office Programs
* Observe all safety procedures and policies
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
* Bachelor of Science, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Physics
* Enthusiasm for on-the-job training around the basics of flexible foam chemistry
* Strong laboratory skills for working safely and effectively
* Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication skills
* Patience, determination, and a propensity for critical thinking and problem solving
Things we consider a plus:
* Basic understanding of polymer chemistry
* Comfortable with data analysis and report generation in Microsoft Excel
* 2 years of relevant experience in a science field
* Familiarity with common lab equipment
* Attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and thoroughness

About the role
The Senior Research and Development Engineer works as part of a cross functional team and is responsible for preparing conceptual ideas and converting them into medical device design requirements and finished product specifications. The Research and Development Engineer supports both new product introduction and sustaining of existing products.
This position reports to the Director of R&D and Engineering.
What you'll do
Generates and assists with creation of Project Plans, Device Design and Development Plans, and Design Change Plans.
Prepares conceptual ideas, sketches, and design concepts. Converts these into medical device user needs and design requirements including device features and benefits. Designs the medical device using CAD/CAE/FEA engineering software tools.
Creates design documentation that defines form, fit, and function of new products, components, and materials to meet design criteria.
Coordinates and communicates with external resources and companies to complete project deliverables (e.g., contract manufacturing and outsourcing of deliverables).
Develops and tests prototypes including collecting and analyzing data and generating reports.
Performs and assists with verification and validation of design requirements by creating verification protocols, performing tests, and creating reports.
Performs and assists with usability engineering (human factors) testing of medical devices per IEC 62366
Prepares, approves, and maintains device design history and development records.
Assists in preparing documentation for product related regulatory submissions, registrations, and certifications with regulatory bodies in the US, Canada, Europe, and other countries as needed.
Works with QA/RA to ensure compliance of design and manufacturing process within ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820 and applicable international regulations and standards such as IEC 60601 as needed.
Performs and assists with risk management activities per ISO 14791.
Conducts research to solve clinical goals using various means to collate the necessary information, including questionnaires, interviews, and group conferences.
Assists and performs design cost analysis and optimization to ensure economic viability.
Assists in identifying and preparing manufacturing processes and approval of manufacturing validation protocols and reports.
Assists in transfer and implementation of manufacturing processes from R&D to Operations and Manufacturing.
Reviews and approves Change Orders for Engineering when necessary.
Evaluates and optimizes procedures and tools to enhance R&D Department's capabilities to develop new products, including the use of multiple external resources.
Mentors and guides junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Other assignments may be assigned as needed.
Ensure that all Engineering Department related tasks and responsibilities defined in EMED Quality Management System Documentation are performed, as defined
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
Four or more years of design experience. Experience with prototyping, testing, analysis, and manufacturing.
Skills required include communicating with other team members and external companies, technical writing, documentation, and proficient in general computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email communication, and CAD 3D/2D software tools.
