Use top loaders, side loaders, and/or cranes to stack, move, and organize containers. Perform equipment inspections before and after use to ensure operational safety. Communicate with yard personnel and supervisors to coordinate moves and tasks. Maintain a safe work environment by following established protocols and procedures. Qualifications: Previous experience operating heavy equipment or machinery in a logistics or industrial environment preferred Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. Willingness to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays. Basic communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Ability to lift up to 50lbs Ability to climb ladders and stairs both off and on railcars Valid driver's license Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations. Perform routine cleaning of plant; including internal and external areas and equipment, also replace light fixture lamps, and change fuses as directed. Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Operate, clean, service and lubricate portable power driven tools and equipment. Assist with the sluicing of ashes during normal and abnormal operating conditions such as bridged over ash hoppers, removal of units from service, boiler slag removal operations, and when ash pits are being cleaned. Assist and execute operation of manual equipment such as opening and closing valves, unplugging coal pipes and fly ash hoppers, hand lancing of boiler slag, manual operation of soot blowers, unplugging of ash lines, disposing of clinkers, cleaning oil igniters and nozzles, and other similar work. Assist in preparing boilers and auxiliary equipment for operation and removal from service. Set up and execute air preheater washes, monitor coal feed rates to mills and burners, perform minor maintenance to coal feeders, observe the conditions of fires and furnaces, over board the miscellaneous drain tank, monitor chemical cleaning equipment, and perform other assignments as directed. Lubricate motors, control devices, fans, pumps, valves and other equipment, including the changing of oil when scheduled, operate oil filtering equipment, and place and remove oil pads and oil dry compound. Perform minor maintenance of plant systems; including preparation of work surfaces by removing insulation, guards and simple housings. Operate and maintain plant equipment such as, but not limited to: strainers, heat exchangers, dust collectors, bottom ash, fly ash, gypsum and other material conveyance equipment, piping, valves, oil igniters and nozzles, pulverizers, feeders, fans, dampers, slag blowers, air preheaters, precipitator rappers, hopper heaters and insulators, access doors and gaskets, small motors, pumps, fans, drive belts, conveyor idlers, gauge glasses, sight glasses, position and level switches, pressure gauges, manometers, pressure switches and similar devices. Adjust packing glands and repack approved valves, pumps and other equipment as required, using the appropriate hand tools and process instructions as trained and qualified. Perform simple machining jobs using the appropriate machine shop tools as trained and qualified. Use the appropriate measuring tools to lay out material such as, wear plates, cover plates, blanks, flange bolt holes, gaskets and other plane figures on flat surfaces as trained and qualified. Perform rough carpentry work, make minor repairs to brick or concrete walls and floors, perform rough plastering, replace glass, and repair window and door hardware. Clean, mask and prepare surfaces for painting, perform painting using brushes or spray equipment with approved paints, and clean painting equipment. Inspect, erect and remove simple rigging and blocking, and assist in the erection or removal of extensive or complicated rigging and blocking. Load, unload, move and handle materials and supplies using equipment such as, but not limited to, hoists, fork trucks, skid steer loaders, small tractors and automotive equipment. Perform duties incidental to the operation of such equipment, including changing and charging batteries, cleaning and general maintenance. Assist in training employees in work of this nature, as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Successful completion of the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) and the Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) tests required. Successful completion of a Physical Abilities Assessment required upon hire. Through a combination of education and/or experience, must have sufficient knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities listed above as well as the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties and/or responsibilities of higher classification in the line of promotion. Must possess a valid State Driver's license. Must satisfactorily complete and exhibit competency, in such time frames as may be established by the Company, all required training to advance (depending on the line of progression) or vacate the AEO-J classification. This includes the ability to gain a working knowledge of all applicable operating instructions and procedures. Must be familiar with the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work. Must be able to learn the tools and equipment and their use as required in the work. Must be able to read, interpret and work from simple prints and specifications and have the ability to gain a working knowledge of OSHA, Environmental guidelines and plant property. Must be able to work rotating shifts.
