Position Specifics

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and continuously improve the Safety Management System across the division.
Lead and direct the Safety Learning Strategy across the division.
Lead the Management of Change, Safety in Design and Construction Safety Projects across the site.
Engage and collaborate with internal customers to develop strategic safety improvement plans and drive them to produce desired safety results and meet established targets.
Lead, direct, and disseminate safety programs for all the businesses plants, including development of policies and processes to ensure safety compliance, as well as determining and implementing any necessary corrective action in safety programs.
Advise and instruct operating management concerning the organization's safety objectives.
Conduct annual audits to evaluate operating performance to established policies, procedures, and governmental regulations.
Coordinate audits with external partners such as insurance carriers.
Lead and develop Safety team, including the creation of individual development plans to foster continuous professional growth and development.
Promote a safe working environment for all employees at all Charter business specific sites.
Manage accident investigation and corrective actions, housekeeping, and safety auditing processes.
Support and serve as a resource for safety teams to utilize their knowledge of day-to-day operations regarding safety to drive improvements and create value added processes.
Assist teams to arrive at the accident root cause(s) and to develop an action plan and follow-up system that eliminates recurrence.
Manage Worker's Compensation and return to work program.
Manage the justification and prioritization of safety resources, including capital, across the Charter business specific sites.
Maintain and oversee safety records including but not limited to OSHA logs and OSHA compliance documentation.
Develop direct reports. Hire, assign and review work, interview, train, discipline, evaluate performance, enforce policies, and recommend changes on employee status.
What you'll need
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field.
Seven plus years' progressive safety experience, including a minimum of four years at a plant level and prior supervisory responsibility for safety professionals.
Experience in Worker's Compensation Insurance.
A working background with team environments and coordinating safety initiatives (SDWT, problem solving teams or work cells) or equivalent team training.
Demonstrated practical experience in safety process improvement and statutory requirements.
Experience interacting with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
Ability to interpret and apply OSHA regulations on a practical basis.
Familiarity with basic medical terminology.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to communicate successfully with multiple levels within an organization using tact and discretion.
Demonstrated skills in the area of partnering with operational groups to develop and achieve strategic safety goals.
Strong personal initiative and demonstrated leadership skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficiency with advanced features of Microsoft Office software products.
Nice to have
Master's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field.
One or more of the following safety certifications: PE, CHMM, CSP, CIH.
Training in total quality management, Continuous Improvement and customer service systems, or experience with similar processes.

The Specifics of the Role
Assist in development of the project safety program.
Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees. Administer and record their participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation program.
Attend all initial meetings with the project staff and subcontractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the project safety program.
Manage larger projects up to $160M.
Client interfacing.
Manage other Clayco Safety Supervisors on the project.
Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractor's activity on site.
Establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and with project staff to ensure proper compliance.
Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure that standards are per the OSHA/Clayco and in compliance with Federal and State standards.
Ensure and maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting.
Review each subcontractor's safety program and ensure that it meets or exceeds the project safety program requirements.
Ensure that each subcontractor designates a safety representative that is properly trained in subcontractor's scope of work and has the proper authority to correct safety issues.
Conduct regular daily and weekly jobsite inspections and complete the safety checklist noting safety violations and corrective actions.
Record, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction actions.
Stop at once any violation or unsafe acts or practices.
Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing proper fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.
Establish and maintain all required safety records.
Conduct a monthly overview safety meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.

Experience working on Microsoft Projects
Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
6-12 years of safety experience or combination of education and years of experience in building construction, with a working knowledge of safety/environment principles and techniques.
10+ years of field experience minimum.
OSHA 30-hour construction accreditation.
OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer is a plus.
Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to walk long distances, stand for extended periods without support, and work at various heights as required.

The Role
* Develop and maintain training materials including presentations, handouts, and demonstrations for telecommunications construction techniques and safety practices
* Deliver engaging training sessions both in classroom settings and on job sites
* Travel to various locations to conduct on-site training (approximately +/- 50% annually)
* Translate training materials between English and Spanish
* Conduct training sessions in both English and Spanish
* Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and regulations
* Track training completion and maintain documentation
* Gather feedback and continuously improve training programs
* Support senior Trainers with content development and delivery
Requirements
* 1+ years of experience in telecommunications construction, drop bury, installation or related field
* High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in telecommunications, construction, education, or related field a plus
* Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (written and verbal) required
* Basic understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and construction practices
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Demonstrates exceptional adaptability in learning and responding to changing conditions
* Detail-oriented with excellent documentation skills
* Previous experience creating training materials
* Knowledge of adult learning principles
* Familiarity with field safety protocols
* Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
* OSHA certification
* Ability to work effectively in diverse environmental conditions including exposure to weather elements, dust, noise, and potentially hazardous materials, with appropriate protective measures
* Ability to travel to multiple locations across different states (+/- 50% annually)
* May require occasional weekend or after-hours availability for emergency situations or special projects
* Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver's license is required if the role involves driving
* Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)

Salary Description
$45K - $65K annually, DOE
