ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Operate bus and all related equipment in a safe and efficient manner, obeying all traffic laws and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the department.
* Provide a safe and positive riding experience for all students assigned to your bus.
* Immediately report involvement in any collision, incident or job-related injury before the completion of your assigned shift through prescribed guidelines and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Requires performing tasks such as sitting, twisting and bending.

7. Physical ability to enter and exit the bus through the emergency exits.

9. Must be able to pass a mandatory Department of Transportation Physical which includes the following:

* Vision - have distant visual acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in each eye with or without corrective lenses or visual acuity

Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Check mailbox before each run for messages. When Operations receives information that a student is or is not going to school, they will make note of message and leave on key ring or notify driver by radio. In the event the driver receives similar information; whether from school, parent or radio, etc. it is the responsibility of the driver to advise Office Staff.
* Responsible for necessary record keeping functions in conjunction with local and state reporting.
* Responsible for the safe transportation of students to and from school.
* Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for the operation of school buses.
* Responsible for preventive care of their assigned bus. Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
* Maintain current route maps and folders. It is the driver's responsibility to maintain current folder schedule time and have all changes approved by the supervisor.
* Complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) to assure student records, behavior and readership confidentiality.
* Student medication is NOT to be transported on the bus.
* Maintain appropriate student management environment and report student incidents to appropriate administrators.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Driver Trainee position is subject to the following limitations:
* Trainee must complete training and be prepared for skills test within 20 business days from first training session.
* Trainee will be permitted a maximum of two (2) attempts to successful pass each of the three required skills tests: Vehicle Inspection, Basic Control, and Road Test.
* Skills testing will be conducted either by the Texas Department of Public Safety or by Spring ISD through the Texas Department of Public Safety Third Party Skills Testing program.
Required:
* High School graduate or GED from an accredited institution
