GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, operates a school bus on assigned route(s) and schedule to provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the programs and offerings of the school system. Work involves performing pre-and post-trip inspections of the bus; operating a bus; obeying all traffic laws and school bus regulations while operating the bus; observing all safety regulations and standards for school buses; and maintaining discipline of students assigned to ride the bus. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and document inspections as required by Transportation Department Operating Instructions for bus drivers

Reports mechanical defect(s) or failure(s) to either the Zone Transportation Supervisor, the Zone Routing Specialist, the mechanic on-duty at the bus parking site or the school bus garage control center. In the event the assigned school bus is declared unfit for service, performs pre- and post-trip inspections on substitute school bus.
In accordance with Transportation Department Operating Instructions for bus drivers, performs required post-trip inspection, to detect students who may still be on board the school bus asleep or incapacitated and to detect any other irregularities or vandalism to the bus interior.
Operates the assigned school bus on the route(s) and schedule provided by the Zone Transportation Supervisor.
Reports to the Zone Transportation Supervisor, on the day of occurrence, any students added to or deleted from the route by the school principal which will necessitate a change in the route, bus stops and/or schedule.
Obeys all traffic laws and school bus regulations while operating the school bus.
Observes all safety regulations and standards for school buses. This includes clearing the school bus and evacuating students quickly in the event of an emergency.
Has a copy of the current Handbook for the School Bus Driver and the Safety Assistant; refers to it periodically for guidance and to answer questions.
Maintains discipline of students assigned to ride the school bus. Establishes a discipline plan that is consistent with school disciplinary objectives, as stated by the principal, and which provides a clear, progressive plan of consequences for students who cause disciplinary problems and rewards for those who maintain proper school bus safety standards.
Reports undisciplined students to the responsible school principal. Discharges students only at the authorized school or bus stop locations. Transports only authorized students.
Keeps the school bus clean and free of papers, bottles, cans food wrappers and other items which may present a safety problem.
Reports all accidents as required by Transportation Operating Instructions and remains at the scene of the accident until released by the on-scene transportation supervisor.
Completes personal time card and required reports, including reports required in the event of an accident or incident aboard the school bus.
Remains in charge of all students aboard the bus at the time of an accident, determining the existence and extent of any injuries and maintaining the safety of all passengers.
Secures the assigned bus before leaving the vehicle at the conclusion of a run or route. This includes parking the vehicle properly, making a visual inspection of the bus to check for damage and the possibility of remaining passengers (replace All-Out Flag or turn off child minder alarm), and securing all windows and doors to protect the interior of the vehicle.
Maintains acceptable relationships with parents/guardians of students transported and with school personnel.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school and some experience driving large vehicles with some experience in transporting humans preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with school bus certification.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a school bus. Must be able to quickly decelerate the bus and firmly apply the brake in an emergency situation. Must be able to turn the steering wheel of the vehicle rapidly in an emergency situation. Must be able to begin in a seated position with seat belt fastened, parking brake released, and engine running, secure the bus (parking brake set, key removed), rise from the seat, exit through the rearmost emergency exit, and be in position to assist passengers in exiting the bus within 20 seconds. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are for Medium Work.

Lead Drivers function as a liaison for Transportation Planners with Drivers and School Bus Supervisors. Lead Drivers assist in conveying directions from the Planner and work coordination for other school bus drivers based on directives from the Transportation Department. Essential Job Functions
Drives any route necessary in the absence of a permanent or substitute driver. Collaborates with Transportation Planner for bus coverage during driver absences.
Monitors AM and PM runs to ensure that each assigned bus is covered; notifying the Transportation Planner if a driver does not show or reports tardy.
Knows the routes of the assigned drivers and ensures that each bus has a copy of the most recent route always.
Trains substitute bus drivers on bus routes and required documents (TD-25, TD-28, count sheets) and conducts re-training as requested.
Inform Transportation Planner of drivers not adhering to the TIMS-approved route and conducts follow-up to ensure route compliance.
Conducts fire extinguishers inspections every other week.
Maintains files of bus routes, seating charts and any other documents concerning students and/or drivers as requested.
Collects and distributes paperwork as directed by the Transportation Planner for the purpose of new route sheets, yearly ridership counts, stop arm violation reports and 20-day count sheets. The TD-28 Bus Maintenance log is to be submitted daily to Bus Garage by 9:30 a.m.
Assists in bus safety training (evacuations) may be asked to assist the Transportation Planner in developing and presenting training, safety meetings and related operational instruction to enhance the assigned drivers' professional development and customer service skills. Should function as mentor to assigned substitute drivers.
Monitors the assigned drivers' pre- and post-trip inspections and bus cleaning.
Reports violations of “no trash cans on the bus”, non-compliance of parking procedures and DPI regulations of chemicals on the bus or the covering of safety markings.
Limited assistance to the mechanics in performing 30-day inspections.
Delivers buses to the Bus Garage for mechanical maintenance.
Other duties as deemed necessary by the Transportation Department.

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE Drive school bus to transport students over specified routes according to time schedule while staying in compliance with traffic regulations and compliance with the state and local code governing conduct when transporting students. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obeys all federal, state, and local laws, policies, regulations, administrative codes and transportation operation guidelines.
Obeys all traffic laws; observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses. This includes clearing the school bus and evacuating students quickly in the event of an emergency.
Maintains safe driver standards and applicable physical and dexterity standards.

Some pre-existing conditions are prohibited, and some are allowed. Sometimes a condition may require a CDL physical every 12 months, such as high blood pressure controlled by medication. The physician can answer your questions.
Drug Testing
You must pass a drug screen. Numerous prescription medications are prohibited or conditionally allowed. Most of the unapproved substances are opiates or mind altering drugs or stimulants. Please consult the Federal list or consult the doctor to ask.

Successfully complete the required three-day school bus driver training class
Pass up to four different knowledge tests with a score of 80 percent or better on each test

This trailer serves as a premium space for hosting sponsors, partners, and VIP guests during race weekends. Responsibilities
Safely transport the hospitality trailer to all scheduled race events, arriving on time for load-in and setup.

Position and park the trailer in designated locations to accommodate full setup (generator, HVAC units, restroom trailer, etc.).

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:
As a Transit Operator I for the City of High Point, your responsibilities will include:
* Operating the bus on assigned routes and schedules, ensuring safe and timely transportation for passengers.

General Statement of Job
Performs semi skilled work operating a school bus, transporting students to and from school, activities or events, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Transportation Route Coordinator.
Essential Job Functions
Performs pre- and post-trip school bus inspection; reports operating and equipment deficiencies.
Transports students to and from school, along with other activities and events.
Cleans the bus inside and out including washing, sweeping, emptying trash, etc.
Fuels the bus as needed.
Obeys traffic laws and observes safety regulations for school bus operations.
Ensures passenger safety; maintains discipline on bus; completes disciplinary forms as needed.
Conducts periodic emergency evacuation drills.
Records mileage; maintains records and reports.
Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum Training and Experience

Valid commercial driver's license with passenger and bus endorsement in the State of North Carolina.
Must hold Commercial Driver's License with P and S Endorsement.
