Job Position Description: Community Action is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Bus Monitor to join our team! In this vital role, you'll ensure a safe, positive, and engaging experience for children during their bus rides to and from school. Our Head Start program operates during the school year (August-May). This is a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of young children and their families in our community. Abbreviated Duties List: * Child Safety & Supervision: Ride the bus daily, ensuring children are safely picked up, correctly fastened in their seats, and properly released to authorized guardians. * Positive Environment: Maintain a safe, healthy, and orderly environment on the bus, using developmentally appropriate guidance to create a positive atmosphere. * Family Connection: Interact with parents in a respectful and confidential manner, building a positive link between home and school. * Team Collaboration: Work closely with the bus driver to ensure routes run on time and assist with keeping the bus clean and organized. * Classroom Support: Regularly assist in the classroom, providing support to students and program staff as needed. * Adherence to Standards: Strictly follow all safety policies, program/agency code of ethics, and program procedures at all times. Abbreviated Requirements: * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Ability to successfully pass applicable background and Oregon Central Background Registry checks prior to employment. * Completion of appropriate Fit for Duty and TB Testing according to Head Start regulations prior to hire. * Must complete Program Training within 30 days of hire. Licenses and Certifications (or acquired within the specified timeframe): * Current Oregon Registry Step Certificate (or acquired within 90 days of hire). * Current First Aid/CPR certification (or acquired within 90 days of hire). * Current Oregon Food Handler Card (or acquired within 30 days of hire). * All state licensing requirements for program staff (or acquired within 30 days of hire).
