PARTA hires and trains Kent State University students wo work as bus operators to drive routes and transport passengers on and around campus. Applicants must successfully complete a training program and obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement. Duties include safely operating vehicles over assigned routes, maintain an on-time schedule, picking up and dropping off passengers at designated stops, verifying valid passes and student ID cards, collecting fares when required, counting and recording all passengers boarding and providing system information while following a predetermined route, transmitting information over a two-way radio, maintaining logs, entering data into a computer, assisting people with disabilities and adhering to PARTA policies and traffic laws.
