You will lead components of statistical contribution to a clinical development program. The Principal Biostatistician implements the statistical strategies for the clinical trials and regulatory submissions within the program, and is accountable for the statistical deliverables
Main Responsibilities:
Input to statistical strategy and ensure appropriate statistical methodologies applied to study design and data analysis for clinical trials and regulatory submissions.
Lead components and fully support Biostatistics conduct in study design, protocol development, data collection, data analysis, reporting, and submission preparation.
Author the initial statistical analysis plan for clinical trials and regulatory submissions. Be accountable for timely completion and quality of the statistical analysis plan.
Support Biostatistics interactions with regulatory authorities (eg FDA, EMA, PMDA)
Be responsible for interpreting analysis results and ensuring reporting accuracy.
Manage outsourcing operations or work with internal statistical programmers within the responsible projects. Ensure timeliness and quality of deliverables by CRO/FSP. Conduct reviews of deliverables to ensure quality.
Be accountable for the TFL/CDISC package for study report and regulatory submission.
Provide statistical thought partnership for innovative study design and clinical development plans, including Go-No Go criteria and probability of technical success calculations
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
PhD or MS in Biostatistics, Statistics
7+ years or relevant work experience
Experience with CROs (either managing a CRO, or having worked in a CRO)
Experience providing statistical leadership at a study level
Demonstrated statistical contribution in facilitating and optimizing clinical development

The Population Analytics and Insights, a part of Data Science and Digital Health at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, is recruiting a SeniorScientist to work on drug target identification/evaluation in Neuroscience therapeutic area. The Data Science Analytics & Insights team develops innovative solutions using a variety of data sources across multiple different disease areas. We are looking for a highly motivated and self-driven scientist who will work on analyzing large-scale genomics data to strengthen our research capacity in disentangling the molecular drivers of neuropsychiatric conditions aimed at pushing the boundaries of data-driven drug discovery using the cutting-edge computational and algorithmic tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is defined on two main contexts:
(a) Neuropsychiatric conditions
1) identify genetically-driven therapeutic targets leveraging a wealth of biobank scale data such as genetics, proteomics and other omics data modalities
(2) precision stratification of patients and characterize genomic manifestations of disease subtypes using a wide variety of large-scale biological data and computational methods;
(b) on-target toxicity/liability assessment of neuroscience-related target genes using omics data and network-based models.
The SeniorScientist will work closely with a team of scientists in disease genetics, computational genomics, AI and machine learning as well as neuroscience therapeutic area to design and implement computational pipelines, analyze and interpret the results, and communicate the findings through internal presentations, conferences and scientific publications. The seniorscientist will also have opportunities to collaborate with other researchers and institutions on related projects:
Conceive, develop, and implement analytical solutions to high-priority scientific projects.
Continuous engagement and participation with scientists across JnJ to foster scientific collaborations and building a carrier network.
Analyze the large-scale genetics, proteomics, and other omics data modalities using the advances statistical and computational methods.
Publish findings in top-tier journals and conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have a strong background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields, with experience of working with large-scale genetics data e.g. SNP array, WES/WGS and multi-omics data e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics etc.
A Ph.D. in a quantitative field - Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Systems Biology, Statistical Genetics, Computer Science, or related fields.
2-3 years of postgraduate scientific experience.
A strong publication record in the relevant areas is required.
Proficient in programming languages such as R/Python, bash, SQL, etc.
Experience with multi-omics data integration, especially network analysis.
Experience/knowledge of psychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder is a plus.
Experience with bulk/single-cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics is preferred.

What You'll Do
Client Analytics & Research Execution
Execute advanced statistical analyses for pharmaceutical market research studies:
Segmentation analysis (cluster analysis, latent class)
Conjoint analysis (discrete choice, MaxDiff)
Message testing and positioning research
Key driver analysis and predictive modeling
Perform data cleaning, weighting, and quality control for survey data
Create professional client deliverables: Simulators in excel and R shiny, PowerPoint, Excel outputs, crosstabs, etc.
Support project teams with statistical methodology recommendations
Collaborate on study design, questionnaire development, and analytical plans
AI Tool Development & Innovation
Contribute to building and testing R Shiny applications that enhance our research capabilities
Help develop AI-powered qualitative coding tools for open-ended survey responses
Test and refine chatbot interfaces that help clients interact with their data
Support validation studies for synthetic respondent methodologies (comparing AI-generated data to real respondent data)
Integrate LLM APIs into existing workflows where appropriate
Experiment with AI applications for research acceleration and automation
Document findings, create user guides, and support internal adoption
Required Qualifications
Core Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in R programming, including tidyverse ecosystem (dplyr, ggplot2, tidyr, purr, ellmer, vitals, ragnar)
OR strong Python skills (pandas, scikit-learn) with willingness to become proficient in R
R Shiny development experience
Statistical methods: Applied experience with regression, clustering, factor analysis, conjoint/MaxDiff, or similar techniques
Data manipulation: Comfortable working with complex survey data, messy datasets, weighting schemes
Some programming experience beyond scripting: You've built something-a dashboard, an analysis pipeline, a tool-not just run one-off analyses
AI Experience
Evidence of hands-on experimentation with AI tools beyond consumer use.
Built a small project using an LLM API (even if just a personal experiment)
Created a prototype chatbot or AI-enhanced tool
Worked through tutorials and actually implemented something with OpenAI/Anthropic/Google APIs
Experimented with prompt engineering in a programmatic way
Contributed to an AI-related project at work or school
Foundation & Experience
Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Economics, or related quantitative field (PhD welcomed but not required)
2-4 years of experience in applied statistics, data science, or market research analytics
Experience with survey research methodologies preferred
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills-ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Comfort juggling multiple projects and shifting priorities
